As I watched the election results unfold last night, I saw something for the first time on social media.
There are many people who have come to the realization of the reality of our day. We are living in a very distinct period of history, one that was foretold centuries ago in the Holy Bible — the “End Times.”
Something is very evident right now in America. People are worried about the future. Families are divided politically, nations are struggling with conflict, and uncertainty seems to be everywhere.
On one side, we have those who believe the Democratic Party can restore America’s future. On the other, we have those who place their confidence in President Donald Trump and the Republican Party.
But I have a question that I believe every American, regardless of political affiliation, should seriously consider:
What if we have been looking in the wrong direction for the answers to our greatest problems?
What if the answer is not found in Washington, D.C., the White House, Congress, or even the next election?
What if the answer has been right in front of us for over 2,000 years?
His name is JESUS CHRIST!
1. The Bible Warns Us About Placing Our Trust in Political Leaders
Please understand something. I am not suggesting that voting is unimportant or that our elected officials do not have responsibilities.
Our government makes decisions that affect our families, our freedoms, our economy, and even the safety of our nation.
But there is an enormous difference between electing someone to govern our country and expecting that person to save it.
Consider what the Bible tells us:
Psalm 146:3 (KJV)
“Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.”
And again:
Jeremiah 17:5 (KJV)
“Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.”
Think about those words!
God is warning us not to place our ultimate confidence in human beings.
Why?
Because human beings are imperfect. They make mistakes. They have personal ambitions, weaknesses, limitations, and sometimes conflicting interests.
No political party can eliminate sin. No president can guarantee peace throughout the world. No government can give us eternal life.
Only Jesus Christ can save the human soul.
2. Are We Witnessing the Conditions Jesus Warned Us About?
Jesus gave His disciples an extraordinary description of the conditions that would characterize the period leading up to His return.
Matthew 24:6–7 (KJV)
“And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.”
Does any of this sound familiar?
We see wars, threats of additional wars, political instability, international tensions, and growing uncertainty about the future.
But there is something else Jesus warned us about that I find particularly concerning.
Matthew 24:12 (KJV)
“And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”
Look around our world today.
People are increasingly divided over politics, religion, national identity, and social issues.
Neighbors argue with neighbors. Families become divided. Friendships end over political disagreements.
And sometimes, even those who profess to follow Jesus Christ allow political differences to become more important than the commandment to love one another.
Isn’t that something worth thinking about?
These scriptures give us important reasons to examine our lives and our relationship with God.
3. Neither Political Party Can Stop What God Has Foretold
Here is something I would encourage everyone to consider.
If we are approaching the final period of history described in Bible prophecy, do we really believe that a political election can prevent God’s prophetic plan from unfolding?
The Bible tells us:
Daniel 2:21 (KJV)
“And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:”
God is not surprised by the results of an election.
He is not sitting in Heaven wondering what President Trump, the Democrats, the Republicans, Russia, China, Israel, or Iran will do next.
God knows the beginning from the end.
Isaiah 46:9–10 (KJV)
“Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,
Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:”
What an incredible reminder!
Human governments come and go. Presidents serve their terms. Political parties gain and lose power.
But God’s authority never expires.
His promises do not depend upon election results.
And His plan of salvation does not change depending upon who occupies the White House.
4. The Most Important Election of Your Life Is Not a Political Election
Now I want to ask you something very personal.
We spend enormous amounts of time researching political candidates.
We watch debates, read articles, discuss policies, and sometimes argue passionately about which person deserves our vote.
But how much time do we spend thinking about the most important decision we will ever make?
Where will we spend eternity?
Jesus asked a question that puts everything into perspective.
Mark 8:36 (KJV)
“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”
Imagine having everything this world could possibly offer.
Financial security. A beautiful home. A successful career. Political victories. Everything you ever wanted.
And then imagine losing your eternal soul.
What would any of those earthly accomplishments be worth?
Jesus is reminding us that nothing in this world is more valuable than our eternal salvation.
And unlike a political election, where millions of votes determine the outcome, your response to Jesus Christ is a decision you must make personally.
Nobody else can make that decision for you.
5. Jesus Christ Is Not Running for Office — He Is Already the King!
I love this part!
Jesus Christ is not campaigning for the presidency.
He is not asking for campaign donations.
He is not making political promises in exchange for votes.
And He certainly does not need approval from Congress to accomplish His purposes.
The Bible identifies Him as:
Revelation 19:16 (KJV)
“And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
Think about that title.
KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS!
Every earthly ruler, regardless of how powerful, remains subject to the authority of Almighty God.
And unlike our political leaders, Jesus Christ has already demonstrated the greatest act of love imaginable.
He willingly gave His life so that we could be forgiven of our sins and receive eternal life.
Romans 5:8 (KJV)
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Jesus did not die for Republicans.
He did not die for Democrats.
He died for sinners — and that includes every one of us!
His offer of salvation extends across political parties, national borders, languages, and cultures.
And that brings us to the most important question in this entire article.
6. Have You Made the Decision to Follow Jesus Christ?
Jesus did not tell us that becoming a member of a political party would save us.
He did not tell us that being a good person, attending church occasionally, or performing religious traditions would guarantee eternal life.
Instead, He made a very clear statement.
John 3:3 (KJV)
“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN!
What does that mean?
It means recognizing that we are sinners who need God’s forgiveness, placing our faith in Jesus Christ and His death and resurrection, and receiving the salvation that God offers through His grace.
Romans 10:9 (KJV)
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
And consider this beautiful promise:
Ephesians 2:8–9 (KJV)
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Salvation is not something we can purchase, earn through good deeds, or receive because of our political beliefs.
It is a gift from God through faith in Jesus Christ.
And that gift is available to you today. But because of our free agency, we MUST choose to accept this gift.
7. What Should Christians Be Doing During These Uncertain Times?
Should we abandon our responsibilities as citizens?
Absolutely not.
We can participate in elections, support causes we believe are right, pray for our leaders, and work toward improving our communities.
But we must never allow politics to replace our relationship with Jesus Christ.
The Apostle Paul instructed Christians:
1 Timothy 2:1–2 (KJV)
“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.”
Notice something important.
Paul did not instruct Christians to pray only for rulers they agreed with.
He instructed them to pray for all who are in authority.
That includes leaders from both political parties.
And as we watch world events unfold, we should remember the words of Jesus:
Luke 21:28 (KJV)
“And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.”
For Christians who believe that we are approaching the fulfillment of end-times prophecy, these words provide tremendous hope.
We do not need to live in constant fear of the future.
Our hope is not dependent upon the outcome of the next election.
Our hope rests in Jesus Christ.
8. America Needs More Than Another Political Victory
I want to share one final thought.
Imagine what could happen if the same passion Americans demonstrate for political elections were directed toward loving God and loving their neighbors.
Imagine families praying together instead of fighting over politics.
Imagine Christians sharing the Gospel with the same enthusiasm they demonstrate when supporting their favorite political candidates.
Imagine people recognizing that the person who votes differently from them is still someone whom God loves.
John 13:34–35 (KJV)
“A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”
America certainly has problems that require responsible leadership, thoughtful policies, and people willing to work together.
But our deepest spiritual need cannot be solved through legislation.
It requires a relationship with Jesus Christ.
9. So, Who Are You “Voting” For?
Now we come back to the title of this article.
The Democrat Party Will Not Save Us, Nor Will President Trump and the Republican Party. There Is ONLY ONE Who Can — Are You “Voting” for Him?
Of course, we do not literally vote Jesus Christ into power. He is already Lord, whether humanity acknowledges Him or not.
The word voting is simply a way of asking where you have placed your trust.
Are you placing your ultimate hope in an earthly leader?
Or are you placing your faith in the One who gave His life so that you could live eternally?
John 14:6 (KJV)
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
There is no Democratic path to Heaven.
There is no Republican path to Heaven.
There is no political party, earthly president, or human institution capable of saving your eternal soul.
There is only ONE SAVIOR — JESUS CHRIST!
And His invitation is available to everyone.
John 3:16 (KJV)
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
My Final Thoughts
As we reflect upon another election, I encourage everyone to remember something.
In a few years, there will be another election.
There will be new candidates, new promises, new political disagreements, and new concerns about the direction of our nation.
But the Gospel of Jesus Christ will remain unchanged.
Political victories are temporary.
Earthly kingdoms are temporary.
Even our lives here on earth are temporary.
But eternity is forever.
We do not know the day or hour of Christ’s return, and no election result can establish that timetable.
However, we do know that Jesus has called us to be ready.
Matthew 24:44 (KJV)
“Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”
So today, regardless of whether your political candidates won or lost, I want to leave you with one final question.
You have made your choice about who you want to lead America. But have you made your choice about who you will trust with your eternal soul?
The next president cannot promise you everlasting life.
Jesus Christ can.
And that is why I encourage you to look beyond politics, beyond the headlines, and beyond the uncertainty of our world.
Look to Jesus Christ.
He is the Savior this world needs, and He is the Savior who offers eternal life to you.
