What Happens to a Person Immediately After They Have Been Raptured? The Fifteen Events of Eternity – Many of Us Will be Raptured Soon, Find Out the Specifics of What Will Happen to Us – Part Three

In part Two, we left off with the antichrist and the false prophet being cast into the Lake of Fire. The Battle of Armageddon has been completed, and Jesus Christ has been victorious in defeating the evil that was on the earth.

A point to note here is that the Earth will undergo major changes at two different times: first, when Jesus Christ returns at the Battle of Armageddon, and second, after the 1,000-year Millennium, when God creates the New Heaven and New Earth.

1. The earth will be dramatically changed when Jesus returns

Zechariah 14:4 (KJV)

“And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.”

When Jesus returns, the Mount of Olives will split, creating a great valley.

Revelation 16:18–20 also describes an enormous earthquake, mountains disappearing, and islands fleeing away.

Zechariah 14:10 describes changes to the land surrounding Jerusalem.

These scriptures indicate that the earth’s geography will be dramatically altered around the time of Christ’s Second Coming.

2. The changed earth will exist during the 1,000-year Millennium

After Armageddon, Jesus will establish His kingdom.

Zechariah 14:9 (KJV)

“And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.”

So, what happens after the Battle of Armageddon?

Today we are going to jump into the following topic:

The 1,000-Year Millenium Period

One of the most wonderful promises in the Bible is that those of us who belong to Jesus Christ and have been raptured will return with Him and reign with Him during His 1,000-year Kingdom upon the earth.

We will not spend those thousand years simply sitting in heaven doing nothing. Scripture describes a glorious future in which we will serve Jesus Christ, reign with Him, worship Him, and participate in His righteous Kingdom.

Let’s examine what the King James Bible tells us.

1. We Will Reign With Jesus Christ for 1,000 Years

Revelation 20:6 (KJV)

“Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.”

This is one of the clearest descriptions of our future responsibilities.

Jesus Christ will be King over the entire earth, and His resurrected saints will reign with Him.

This means we will participate in administering His Kingdom. Although Scripture does not describe every responsibility we will have, it indicates that we will share in Christ’s authority.

Imagine living upon an earth where Jesus Christ Himself is the supreme ruler! There will be no corruption in His government, no injustice in His decisions, and no question about His righteousness.

2. We Will Be Given Positions of Authority and Responsibility

Luke 19:17 (KJV)

“And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.”

In the parable of the pounds, Jesus describes a faithful servant receiving authority over ten cities. Another servant receives authority over five cities.

Many premillennial Bible teachers understand this parable as illustrating how Christ may reward His faithful servants with responsibilities in His future Kingdom.

Consider what this could mean for us.

Some believers may be entrusted with authority over cities or regions. Others may receive different responsibilities according to the Lord’s perfect judgment.

3. We Will Serve as Priests of God and of Jesus Christ

Revelation 20:6 (KJV)

“…but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.”

Notice that we will not only reign with Christ. We will also serve as priests.

A priest is someone who serves God in a sacred capacity.

Although the Bible does not explain all the duties of resurrected believers during the Millennium, this promise indicates that our service will be holy and devoted to God.

Our lives will be centered entirely upon glorifying Jesus Christ.

4. We Will Have Glorified, Immortal Bodies

Philippians 3:20–21 (KJV)

“For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.”

Those who are raptured will have already received their glorified bodies.

We will no longer possess the mortal bodies we have today.

1 Corinthians 15:52–53 (KJV)

“In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.”

Think about what this means!

We will no longer experience the limitations of mortality. We will not grow old or face death.

We will serve our Savior in bodies that have been transformed by the power of God.

5. We Will Enjoy Fellowship with Jesus Christ

1 Thessalonians 4:17 (KJV)

“Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

This is perhaps the greatest blessing of all.

We will be with Jesus Christ!

I want to spend some time here, sharing something that has been remarkable to study and learn.

According to the King James Bible, Jesus will bring healing, restoration, and peace during His 1,000-year Millennial Kingdom.

For all of the hurt and harm that we received during our lifetime here on earth, the millennium will be a time where Jesus Christ will personally heal us from all of those things. Spending all of the time needed to heal us from the trauma that we received.

Isaiah 35:5–6 (KJV)

“Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.

Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.”

Many Christians understand this prophecy as describing the wonderful restoration that will accompany Christ’s Millennial Kingdom.

People who have suffered blindness, deafness, and physical disabilities will experience God’s healing power.

Isaiah 61:1 (KJV)

“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;”

Jesus came to heal the brokenhearted. His reign will be characterized by righteousness, justice, and peace.

Those who have experienced suffering and oppression will live under the perfect rule of Jesus Christ.

Here is something especially wonderful!

According to the premillennial understanding of Scripture, believers who have been raptured will already possess glorified bodies when they return with Jesus to reign during the Millennium.

We will not need our physical wounds healed because our bodies will already have been transformed!

We will no longer suffer from sickness, aging, or physical weakness.

Jesus Wipe Away Our Tears During the Millennium

Revelation 21:4 (KJV)

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

This is one of the most beautiful promises in the Bible.

Who will be living on the earth during the millennium?

There will be people who survive the seven-year Tribulation and enter the 1,000-year Millennium in their natural, physical bodies. They will live on Earth under the reign of Jesus Christ.

This is an important part of understanding the Millennium because there will be two different groups of people living on Earth during Christ’s 1,000-year reign.

People Who Survive the Great Tribulation

When Jesus returns at His Second Coming, not every human being on Earth will be killed during the Battle of Armageddon.

There will be survivors who enter the Millennial Kingdom in their natural bodies.

Matthew 25:31–34 (KJV)

“When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:”

In the premillennial interpretation, the sheep represent righteous people who survive the Tribulation and are permitted to enter Christ’s earthly kingdom.

These people will:

  • Have natural human bodies.
  • Marry and have children.
  • Live under the righteous government of Jesus Christ.
  • Experience extraordinary peace and prosperity.
  • Continue to be mortal, although lifespans may be greatly extended.

Raptured Christians Will Return with Jesus

Another group will be those who were raptured before the Tribulation and received glorified bodies.

Revelation 20:6 (KJV)

“Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.”

Unlike those who survived the Tribulation, they will possess immortal, glorified bodies.

Tribulation Martyrs Will Also Reign with Jesus

There will be people who accept Jesus Christ during the Tribulation but are killed because they refuse to worship the Antichrist or receive his mark.

Revelation 20:4 (KJV)

“And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.”

These faithful believers will be resurrected and reign with Jesus.

Children Will Be Born During the Millennium

This is something many Christians do not realize!

The people who survive the Tribulation and enter the Millennium in natural bodies will be able to marry and have children.

Isaiah 65:20 (KJV)

“There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed.”

Many premillennial interpreters understand this passage as describing greatly extended human lifespans during the Millennium.

As generations pass, the population of Earth will grow.

Importantly, children born during the Millennium will still need to place their faith in Jesus Christ. Being born under His righteous government does not automatically mean they have personally accepted Him as their Saviour.

Summary: Who Will Live on Earth During the Millennium?

GroupType of body
Christians who were rapturedGlorified, immortal bodies
Resurrected Tribulation martyrsGlorified, immortal bodies
Believers who survive the TribulationNatural, mortal bodies
Children born during the MillenniumNatural, mortal bodies

People Will Build Houses and Live in Them

Isaiah 65:21–22 (KJV)

“And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.

They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.”

Today, people may spend years building a home, only to lose it through war, persecution, theft, or other hardships.

During the Millennium, people will be able to build their homes and enjoy living in them without fearing that someone will unjustly take them away.

God is promising security and the enjoyment of their own labor.

Work Will Be a Blessing, not a Burden

Isaiah 65:23 (KJV)

“They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them.”

During the Millennium, work will be meaningful and productive.

The frustration, injustice, and suffering that so often accompany human labor today will be greatly diminished under Christ’s righteous government.

We Will Continue to Learn

Isaiah 11:9 (KJV)

“They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.”

Habakkuk 2:14 (KJV)

“For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.”

What does this mean for the Millennium?

During the 1,000-year reign of Jesus Christ, the knowledge of the Lord will fill the earth. I find it fascinating to eve think about the continued learning that will happen during the millennium, To learn directly from the Savior is remarkable, and very humbling to me.

Isaiah 2:3 (KJV) adds:

“And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.”

This is especially significant because it describes people coming to learn the Lord’s ways during His future reign.

What Happens to Us When the Millennium Ends?

At the conclusion of the thousand years, Satan will be released from his prison for a short season.

He will deceive the nations and gather people in a final rebellion against God.

Revelation 20:9 (KJV)

And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

God will immediately defeat this rebellion.

Satan will then be cast into the lake of fire, where he will remain forever.

Following this comes the Great White Throne Judgment and then the creation of the new heaven and new earth which we will discuss in part four. I hope that you’ll join me again as we learn what lies next in our eternal journey.
