Many people are leaving a lifelong religion after examining its teachings against the Word of God taught by Jesus Christ and His apostles. God has foretold such a time as this through prophecy.
Scripture mentions a time when things concealed in darkness will be brought into the light. Jesus declared, “For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known” (Luke 12:2).
The Apostle Paul likewise taught that the Lord “will bring to light the hidden things of darkness” (1 Corinthians 4:5).
And in Revelation 18:4, we hear a solemn call from heaven: “Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins.”
These scriptures give us compelling reasons to examine what we have been taught. For those of us who have spent a lifetime trusting religious authorities, discovering teachings that we believe conflict with the Gospel of Jesus Christ can startling, and difficult to proceed forward, without following the teachings that I would like to share today.
Our responsibility is not simply to follow the traditions of our fathers, but to follow the truth revealed in God’s Word. As Paul instructed, “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21).
Here are those foretold prophecies of deception becoming uncovered in the last days:
1. Nothing hidden shall remain concealed
Luke 12:2–3 (KJV)
“For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.”
Jesus teaches that concealed things will ultimately be revealed.
2. God will bring hidden things to light
1 Corinthians 4:5 (KJV)
“Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.”
This passage connects the revealing of hidden things with the coming of the Lord. It concerns God’s ultimate judgment and His knowledge of what human beings cannot see.
3. God calls His people to come out of Babylon
Revelation 18:4 (KJV)
“And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.”
Revelation describes a call for God’s people to separate themselves from Babylon and its sins. Some Christians interpret Babylon as encompassing corrupt religious systems, although the identity and full meaning of Babylon are debated.
4. God commands His people to examine what they have been taught
1 Thessalonians 5:21 (KJV)
“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.”
Ephesians 5:11–13 (KJV)
“And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.”
These passages emphasize examining teachings, rejecting wrongdoing, and bringing darkness into the light.
As I left my church, I really had no desire to spend a great deal of time identifying the false teachings that I had discovered. Rather, I wanted to know the TRUE teachings of the Gospel of Jeus Christ. What is TRUE? Where can I find it?
The answer was so SIMPLE!!!
Most people reading this know that Jesus Christ actually came to the earth. He came to teach His Gospel, the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
After His death and resurrection, His apostles continued preaching the Gospel they had received from Him.
Now, here’s where it gets very clear for us to know which gospel teachings are true, and which church teachings are false. Take a look at this scripture:
Paul wrote, Galatians 1:8–9 (KJV):
8 “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.”
To stress the importance of this statement, he says it again in the following verse:
9 “As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.”
Can you see it? Jesus and His apostles taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ in it’s fulness when they were on the earth.
Every religious teaching needs to be tested against the gospel that they taught, which is recorded in the New Testament.
That means neither a church, a prophet, an apostle, a religious institution, nor even an angel claiming heavenly authority has biblical authority to replace Christ’s Gospel with another gospel.
The standard was already given: “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21 KJV).
Therefore, every later religious claim—including one claiming revelation through an angel—must be tested against the Gospel Jesus Christ and His apostles had already taught.
This one teaching alone, eliminates most of the religious doctrine that I was taught by my former religion.
Jesus Christ did not come to earth and teach merely the first part of an unfinished Gospel that would require another prophet centuries later to complete it. Jesus declared,
“I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them” (John 17:8 KJV), and before returning to the Father He commanded His apostles to teach the nations “to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:20).
Jude later wrote that Christians should “earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints” (Jude 1:3), showing that the faith had already been delivered, rather than awaiting a later completion.
John 19:30 (KJV):
“When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.”
Those three words—“It is finished”—are powerful. Christ’s sacrificial work on the cross was completed. In context, “It is finished” directly refers to the completion of Jesus’ earthly work of completing the atonement, as well as teaching His new gospel. It is Finished!
Let me show you how simple this test can be. Let’s take the example of what a church teaches about temples.
To determine whether those teachings are true, we must compare them with what Jesus Christ and His apostles actually taught.
Jesus said, “the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth” (John 4:23 KJV), while Paul taught that believers themselves are God’s temple: “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” (1 Corinthians 3:16). Paul also declared that God “dwelleth not in temples made with hands” (Acts 17:24), and Scripture teaches that salvation is “by grace…through faith…not of works” (Ephesians 2:8–9).
Therefore, if a church teaches that special temple buildings, ceremonies, covenants, or ordinances performed within them are necessary for a person to obtain salvation or eternal life, we should ask a very simple question: Where did Jesus or His apostles teach that? We do not test the Bible by the teachings of a church; we test the teachings of a church by the Bible.
The temple endowment, baptism for the dead, or marital sealings are not taught anywhere in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, so we can conclude that these teachings are NOT TRUE!
There is also something AMAZING that I have learned regarding the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It too is SIMPLE, and religions have complicated it extremely.
Let me share this gospel of Jesus Christ as He taught when He was on the earth:
We are all sinners, for “all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23 KJV).
But God loved us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into this world to save us (John 3:16–17). Jesus gave Himself as the sacrifice for our sins, and upon the cross declared, “It is finished” (John 19:30).
His sacrifice was sufficient—“Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many” (Hebrews 9:28), and “we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all” (Hebrews 10:10).
Forgiveness and salvation cannot be earned through our own goodness, religious ceremonies, or works; “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works” (Ephesians 2:8–9).
God offers salvation as a gift, but each person must personally believe upon Jesus Christ: “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:31).
Jesus described this transformation as being “born again” (John 3:3–7)—a spiritual birth accomplished by God, not something we earn through the flesh.
Scripture says that those who receive Christ and believe on His name are given “power to become the sons of God” and are born “of God” (John 1:12–13).
The moment a person truly believes, Scripture says that he or she is sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise (Ephesians 1:13), belongs to Christ (Romans 8:9), and is now “in Christ”, becoming “a new creature” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Believers are also described collectively as “a chosen generation, a royal priesthood” (1 Peter 2:9), with Jesus Christ Himself as our great High Priest (Hebrews 4:14–16).
We come directly to God through Christ, confessing and turning from our sins: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins” (1 John 1:9), for “there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 2:5).
This is why salvation rests not upon what we can accomplish for God, but upon what Jesus Christ has already accomplished for us.
As Romans 10:9 declares, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
This is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is free of Religious Noise, and untruths.
Now let me make an obvious connection here with the “simplicity” of the Gospel, by reminding you of the story of the thief on the cross.
The thief on the cross gives us one of the clearest pictures of salvation by faith in Jesus Christ. This man was a convicted criminal who openly admitted, “we receive the due reward of our deeds” (Luke 23:41 KJV).
He had no opportunity to be baptized, enter a temple, perform religious ordinances, serve a mission, pay tithes, or accumulate enough good works to earn salvation. He could do nothing physically—his hands and feet were fastened to a cross.
Yet he turned to Jesus in faith and said, “Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom” (Luke 23:42).
Jesus did not give him a list of ordinances he still needed to complete; instead, He answered, “Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:43).
The thief brought Jesus nothing except repentance and faith, and Christ gave him a promise he could never earn.
His story beautifully illustrates the truth later expressed in Ephesians 2:8–9: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” The thief could not save himself—Jesus saved him.
So, now you have the teaching directly from Jesus Christ and His apostles. Test everything against what they taught. If it doesn’t pass the test, it is false doctrine.
I hope that this information will help some of you who are searching for truth. We know that the adversary has a way of hiding or disguising the truth, but this is a teaching that you can rely upon.
You must take the “crafty deception” out of religion, and follow the gospel of Jesus Christ. To be quite honest, your church or religion has nothing to do with your salvation. That gift comes directly from Jesus Christ, and only requires our faith in what He has done for us, and our willingness to repent for the sins that we have committed.
The following scripture is quite telling of a coming disaster for some “religious people.”
Matthew 7:21–23 (KJV)
“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”
The striking part is that these people are religious. They call Jesus “Lord.” They prophesy in His name, perform works in His name, and point to those works as evidence that they belong to Him. Yet Jesus does not say, “I knew you once, but you lost your salvation.” He says, “I never knew you.”
And the terrifying thing to note, is that Jesus is denying them entrance to heaven!!
So, Matthew 7 contains a sobering warning: doing things for Jesus is not the same thing as belonging to Jesus. A person can possess religion, ordinances, church membership, titles, and even impressive works while never having been spiritually reborn. The central question is not merely, “What have I done for Christ?” but “Do I truly know Christ—and does He know me?”
I can say with great certainty that when we leave this life and stand before God, we will not be able to hide behind the name of our religion, our church membership, our religious titles, or the works we performed.
Scripture says, “every one of us shall give account of himself to God” (Romans 14:12), and “we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:10).
Jesus did not say, “I never knew your religion”; He said, “I never knew you” (Matthew 7:23).
Salvation is personal because Jesus Christ Himself is the way: “no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6).
There is only “one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 2:5).
When that day comes, the question will not be which church did you belong to, or, whether our religion knew our name, but whether we truly belonged to Jesus Christ. “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27).
God is exposing religious deception. Are you listening to Him, or are you comfortable to rest on the comfy couch of your religion? I invite you to learn the Gospel of Jesus Christ…It is NOT what many of you were taught through your religion.
Jesus came to this earth to teach us His gospel, which is recorded in the New Testament. Start there, and then, test all gospel concepts using His teachings.

So, get busy… The MOST important topics for you to study are:
“How does a person become Born Again?”
“What does it mean to be “in Christ?”
If you understand these two topics and implement them into your life, you will rest peacefully knowing that you will be included in God’s rescue plan of the rapture which will soon take place.
