Because of a personal experience in my life, I have a great desire to learn more of the details associated with the Jewish holiday, “Feast of Trumpets.” When does it start, how long in the holiday, and what do the believers do during this holiday? What does the holiday represent, and how do followers participate in this period of time?
So, with that being my outline, let’s take a deep dive into investigating the “Feast of Trumpets.”
The Feast of Trumpets has such strong biblical imagery– trumpets, remembrance, repentance, judgment, and gathering. There is also an important distinction between what Scripture itself says about the feast and the Jewish traditions that developed around it.
First: What exactly is the Feast of Trumpets?
In the Bible, what Christians commonly call the Feast of Trumpets occurs on the first day of the seventh Hebrew month, Tishrei.
The Bible calls it a “memorial of blowing of trumpets” and a “day of blowing the trumpets.”
Leviticus 23:23–25 — KJV
“And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.
Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.”
And:
Numbers 29:1 — KJV
“And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work: it is a day of blowing the trumpets unto you.”
In Hebrew it is commonly called Yom Teruah — “Day of Teruah/Blasting.” The modern Jewish observance is called Rosh Hashanah, literally “head of the year,” or Jewish New Year.
When is the Feast of Trumpets in 2026?
This year’s dates are particularly worth getting precise.
Rosh Hashanah 5787 begins at sundown Friday, September 11, 2026, and ends at nightfall Sunday, September 13, 2026.
So, the basic timeline is:
Friday evening, Sept. 11 → Saturday evening, Sept. 12: first day
Saturday evening, Sept. 12 → Sunday evening, Sept. 13: second day
What happens during the Feast?
The shofar is at the heart of the observance. This is the horn that is used for this event.
It isn’t normally the kind of metal trumpet we picture today. The shofar is an animal horn, traditionally most often a ram’s horn.
Its sound can be startling.
It isn’t primarily intended as entertainment or music. Symbolically, it functions much more like an alarm, summons, proclamation or awakening.
Jewish tradition developed several patterns of shofar blasts, commonly known as tekiah, shevarim and teruah. The shofar is heard repeatedly during the Rosh Hashanah service.
That gives us an interesting biblical connection because trumpets repeatedly signify major events in Scripture.
They can announce:
a gathering of God’s people,a warning,
the arrival of a king,
war or judgment,
a sacred assembly,
or a divine intervention.
For example:
Numbers 10:2–3 — KJV
“Make thee two trumpets of silver… that thou mayest use them for the calling of the assembly, and for the journeying of the camps.
And when they shall blow with them, all the assembly shall assemble themselves to thee…”
Notice that language:
Trumpet → calling → assembly → gathering.
That imagery becomes very interesting when we reach the New Testament.
What do Jewish people actually do during Rosh Hashanah?
The holiday is much more solemn than our January 1 New Year’s celebration.
It combines celebration, prayer, self-examination, repentance and hope.
Many observant Jews attend synagogue services, hear the shofar, pray, examine the previous year, seek reconciliation with people they have wronged, and prepare spiritually for Yom Kippur.
The major spiritual idea is teshuvah, usually translated “repentance,” although its literal sense is closer to returning—turning back toward God.
There are also festive meals.
Why Christians interested in the Rapture pay so much attention to this “holiday.”
This is where study becomes especially interesting, although we need to distinguish biblical parallels from a prediction of timing.
Paul describes the gathering of believers this way:
1 Thessalonians 4:16–17 — KJV
“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”
And Paul gives another description:
1 Corinthians 15:51–52 — KJV
“Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”
Now compare the imagery:

| Repentance/readiness | Believers told to watch |

Those parallels explain why some Christian prophecy teachers consider the Feast of Trumpets a particularly interesting prophetic picture of the Rapture.
There is another fascinating connection
Jesus said:
Matthew 24:31 — KJV
“And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”
Again:
Trumpet → gathering.
And Isaiah contains striking trumpet imagery:
Isaiah 27:13 — KJV
“And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish… and shall worship the LORD in the holy mount at Jerusalem.”
So, the trumpet gathering motif isn’t based upon a single New Testament passage. It runs through Scripture.
One detail about 2026 is unusual
There is an interesting wrinkle this particular year.
1 Tishrei 5787 falls on Saturday, September 12, 2026—Shabbat.
In traditional Jewish practice, the shofar generally is not sounded on Shabbat, so in Orthodox and Conservative practice the principal shofar sounding would occur on the second day, Sunday, September 13.
That doesn’t change the biblical date of 1 Tishrei, but it does affect how the modern Jewish observance unfolds in 2026.
So, if asking whether Feast of Trumpets 2026 represents an unusually interesting high-watch period, we absolutely should consider that.
As we continue this investigation, let’s take September 11–13, 2026, and examine the Feast of Trumpets strictly through the KJV first, and then ask:
If God intended the Feast of Trumpets to prophetically foreshadow the Rapture, what clues would we expect Scripture to contain—and are those clues actually there?
That would let us build the argument from Scripture upward, rather than starting with the date and working backward.
Using ONLY Scripture to Establish Answers Relating to the Rapture and Nothing Else.
If God designed the Feast of Trumpets to foreshadow the future gathering of Christ’s Church, what fingerprints should we expect to find in Scripture?
1. We would expect God Himself to establish the feast
And He did.
Leviticus 23:23–25 — KJV
“And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.
Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.”
This gives us three important elements:
An appointed time.
A trumpet.
A holy gathering.
And Numbers makes the trumpet unmistakable.
Numbers 29:1 — KJV
“And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work: it is a day of blowing the trumpets unto you.”
At this point scripture hasn’t said anything about the Rapture yet, we’re simply recording the biblical pattern:
God-appointed day → trumpet → assembly of God’s people.
That is Fingerprint #1.
2. If it foreshadows the Rapture, we should expect a trumpet at the Rapture
1 Thessalonians 4:16–17 — KJV
“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”
We now have:
Feast: trumpet → assembly.
Rapture: trump of God → believers “caught up together.”
But one passage isn’t enough to establish a pattern.
So, we keep looking.
3. We would expect another Rapture passage to mention a trumpet
And it does.
1 Corinthians 15:51–52 — KJV
“Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”
Now the evidence becomes considerably more interesting.
Paul independently gives us:
Trumpet.
Resurrection.
Transformation.
A sudden event.
And he calls the event a previously revealed “mystery.”
So, our second fingerprint is strong:
Trumpet sounds → dead believers rise → living believers change → God’s people are caught up together.
That’s an actual scriptural correspondence—not something created from modern Jewish tradition.
4. We would expect trumpets elsewhere in Scripture to represent gathering
They do.
Numbers 10:2–3 — KJV
“Make thee two trumpets of silver… that thou mayest use them for the calling of the assembly, and for the journeying of the camps.
And when they shall blow with them, all the assembly shall assemble themselves to thee…”
This is important.
God had already established the trumpet as an instrument associated with summoning His people to assemble.
That makes Paul’s wording particularly fascinating:
1 Thessalonians 4
Trump of God → “caught up together.”
Numbers 10
Trumpets → “calling of the assembly.”
Leviticus 23
Trumpet → “holy convocation.”
The same broad imagery appears repeatedly:
TRUMPET → CALL → ASSEMBLY/GATHERING
5. We would expect the Rapture to happen suddenly
Again, yes.
1 Corinthians 15:52 — KJV
“In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump…”
There is no prolonged evacuation of Christians.
The transformation is instantaneous.
Jesus also repeatedly described His coming using the language of unexpectedness and watchfulness.
Matthew 24:42 — KJV
“Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.”
And:
Matthew 24:44 — KJV
“Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”
So, another correspondence emerges:
Trumpet + readiness + sudden divine intervention.
6. We would expect the event to involve awakening the dead
This may be one of the strongest connections.
Paul says:
1 Thessalonians 4:16
“…the dead in Christ shall rise first.”
And:
1 Corinthians 15:52
“…the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible…”
Therefore, the trumpet isn’t merely announcing Christ. It accompanies an extraordinary awakening of the dead.
And Scripture elsewhere connects God’s trumpet with resurrection imagery.
John 5:28–29 — KJV
“Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
And shall come forth…”
Notice 1 Thessalonians:
voice of the archangel → trump of God → dead rise.
The imagery of sound followed by awakening is remarkably consistent.
7. We would expect gathering language
This appears repeatedly.
Paul says:
2 Thessalonians 2:1 — KJV
“Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him…”
That phrase deserves considerable attention. Not merely Christ coming.
“Our gathering together unto him.”
That pattern is difficult to miss. Again, this is entirely scripture without any “Feast of Trumpet Holiday” tradition details.
8. We would expect the feast to occupy an important place in God’s prophetic calendar
This becomes even more interesting when we look at Leviticus 23 as a whole. Let’s zoom out for a moment and consider the entire SEVEN “Holidays” of a year.
God established seven major appointed observances:
*Passover
*Unleavened Bread
*Firstfruits
*Pentecost
*Feast of Trumpets
*Day of Atonement
*Tabernacles
Christ’s death corresponds unmistakably with the first “holiday” which is Passover.
1 Corinthians 5:7 — KJV
“For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:”
Christ’s burial corresponds with the second “holiday,” the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Throughout Scripture, leaven can symbolize sin and corruption, while Jesus Christ was completely without sin, and even His body would “see no corruption” while it rested in the grave.
Acts 2:31 — KJV
“He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.”
The Feast of Unleavened Bread therefore provides a powerful picture of the sinless and incorruptible body of Jesus Christ in the tomb, positioned perfectly between Passover—His sacrifice, and Firstfruits—His resurrection from the dead.
His resurrection occurred at the season of the third “holiday” Firstfruits, and Paul explicitly calls Christ:
1 Corinthians 15:20 — KJV
“…Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.”
The Holy Ghost was given to the believers at the fourth “holiday,” Pentecost, exactly as Jesus had promised.
Acts 2:1–4 — KJV
“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place… And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost…”
Given these facts, the spring feasts have extraordinary connections with major events in Christ’s redemptive work. These four events have All, already happened in fulfillment of scripture!
Then, there is a long interval before the autumn feasts pick back up. Many who study prophecy feel that this long period of time represents the “Church Age.”
The Church Age is the period beginning with the coming of the Holy Ghost at Pentecost, and continuing through the present time, during which the Gospel of Jesus Christ is proclaimed throughout the world. All who place their faith in Christ are brought into His body, the Church. During this period, believers are called to share the Gospel, live by faith, and watch for Christ’s return. In the pre-tribulation understanding, this age will culminate with Christ gathering His Church unto Himself at the Rapture (1 Thessalonians 4:16–17; 2 Thessalonians 2:1).
Now, let’s explore the three “holidays” of the fall season that have not yet been fulfilled. What is the first autumn feast?
Feast of Trumpets.
We have described this “holiday” in detail above, yet it doesn’t prove Trumpets equals Rapture. However, from a prophetic-pattern perspective, it is certainly intriguing, right?
9. Look at what immediately follows Trumpets
God’s order in Leviticus 23 is:
*Trumpets: September 11 sunset–September 13 2026 nightfall
*Day of Atonement: September 20 sunset–September 21 nightfall (specific date will change in 2033.)
*Tabernacles begins: September 25 sunset. (specific date will change in 2033.)
So, Scripture itself establishes:
Trumpet = gathering of the church → Atonement = judgment → Tabernacles = restoration of “the earth”
These three “holidays” fulfill the sequence of what is to happen between NOW, and the earth is restored and the millennial period of time begins. THREE “holidays,” and each one having a purpose in SCRIPTURE. Now, let’s return specifically to the “Feast of Trumpets.”
10. What about “the last trump”?
This is probably the most tantalizing expression of all.
1 Corinthians 15:52
“…at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound…”
Some prophecy interpretations connect Paul’s “last trump” with the Feast of Trumpets.
When Paul said the resurrection and transformation of believers would occur “at the last trump” (1 Corinthians 15:52 KJV), he was describing the final trumpet associated with this revealed event: “for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” This corresponds closely with 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17, where “the trump of God” sounds, the dead in Christ rise, and living believers are caught up together with them to meet the Lord. Paul therefore presents the trumpet as God’s dramatic signal for the resurrection, transformation, and gathering of believers to Christ.
Therefore, the connection to the rapture is VERY possible.
That distinction actually strengthens our investigation because we’re separating evidence from speculation. Let’s keep moving through this relevant information.
11. What about “no man knoweth the day nor the hour”?
Matthew 24:36 — KJV
“But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.”
There is a popular prophecy teaching, claiming that the Feast of Trumpets was historically known as “the feast where no man knows the day or hour” because the beginning depended upon the declaration of new moon. They did not know when the holiday would begin, until a time where they could physically observe the new moon in the sky.
This is quite intriguing, yet by itself does not prove that the rapture will happen on the Feast of Trumpets.
12. Now we can finally summarize our findings of September 11–13, 2026, as being a possible rapture date.
After examining Scripture first, here is what we actually have.

So where does the evidence actually leave us?
I think that with all of the scripture teachings of the KJV of the Bible, I think its reasonable to make this statement:
“The Feast of Trumpets provides a remarkably fitting prophetic picture of the Rapture.”
There has also been something PROFOUND on my mind today. It initially seems unrelated to the rapture, but has been constantly at the forefront of my mind all day.
Remember the article about Noah, and when God locked the door of the ark, and his family had to wait for a period of a week before it began to rain? This has been quite intriguing to me.
Most all of us reading this writing are anxiously waiting for the rapture. But even when Noah and his family KNEW that the flood was coming, they still had to wait 7 days before it actually came. Why?
This to me demonstrated a time of great faith. Imagine, being all together to set out on something that God had actually told Noah, but it didn’t immediately happen. How would you respond? Would waiting these seven days challenge your faith? Would you begin to have second thoughts? Would you QUESTION the prophet?
I BELLIEVE, that God was providing an opportunity for them to deepen their faith in Him. They had to rely on their FAITH, and not the evidence of the rain, for seven days. I’m certain that within that period of time, they were in constant prayer, and through that prayer, God gave them the patience and strength to STILL BELIEVE that the water would come.
We might KNOW that the RAPTURE is coming, and we might even feel that it could very well be next month. BUT should we face the same opportunity to have greater faith in God, by having to wait “seven days” how are we going to respond?
I think that it is IMPARRATIVE for ALL OF US to ask ourselves this question, so that we can be prepared for whatever is to come concerning the rapture.
I believe these writings above can provide what God has asked us to do:
1 Thessalonians 4:18 — KJV
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
Let us find comfort in knowing that the rapture will soon happen. But let us also know that sometimes a greater faith is required, when things don’t go as we assume they will. Remember, all of the end times prophecies are GOD’s Plan. They are on His schedule, and it is unchangeable. And, certainly it makes perfect sense that we should acknowledge HIS schedule, because He knows the entire circumstance of everything that’s involved with these final seven years on earth.
Let us “watch” each day for the return of the Savior to rescue us from the upcoming Tribulation Period. If a date comes and goes, let us have continued faith, just like Noah and his family had during those 7 days, in the ark without rain.
I have NEVER been as close to our Savior as I have been these last three days. The veil has been so thin for me. I indeed know that He is “driving” my car, and is leading me to a greater understanding of His teachings. I’m humbled to think that I even deserve such a blessing from Him.
There has been one constant theme in my life, which is, that I NEED GOD, through Jesus Christ! In everything…Career, family, marriage, during times of seeking adventure, and for something far greater…SALVATION.
That has been my “pattern” throughout life, and because of pride, has taken me a good portion of my life to fully understand it. I most often wanted to remain in control.
When we give EVERYTING to God, and have faith in HIM, He will always give us “assignments,” and provide assistance to proceed in navigating through the challenges of life. Burdens are lifted, BECAUSE we know who is in charge of our problem; GOD.
All of those brilliant ideas that you have had come to your mind when you are struggling, have been from HIM. He deserves the credit, and we should acknowledge Him as the leader of our life.
So, to close today, let our resolve be that we should focus on our faith in Him. Our faith should be in His glorious plan of the rescue of those who are “in Christ.” He is saving us from the terrible final seven years on earth, protecting us as the perfect Father that He is.
And for our loved ones who have chosen to ignore Him, let us have faith in His plan of the Tribulation Period… “Humility through opposition.” Let us know that some people require humbling challenges to bring them to the point of acceptance. Let the panic feeling of “trying to save them now,” go. God will save them through His plan. The Tribulation Period might be exactly what they need to experience, in order to Come to Christ.
My heart is full. I’m ready to go at any day. My mind has left this earth, as I am constantly thinking of what is to come. A perfect body, free from all of its imperfections. SEEING my son again! And embracing my Savior, and trying to find the right words to say in expressing my gratitude for what He has done for me. What are you going to say?
The Wedding Feast of Christ – Judgment seat of Christ will be the perfect celebration as we reunite with all who are “in Christ.” Can you picture that moment? What do you see? Certainly, a festive celebration!
And to know that we will be riding, along side with Jesus Christ to follow Him down to the earth, as He judges sin… A front row seat to such a spiritual event. We will be a part of that moment.
My wife jokes with me that because I’m always getting thrown off of horses, she says, I’ll miss all of the excitement, as I’ll be stuck in a cloud after being thrown off of my horse. I pray that I will be able to “hold on” =) I don’t want to miss even a moment of that time.
I hope that you are all doing well, and that you too are experiencing a spiritual time in life in preparing for the rapture. We can find comfort in knowing that Jesus Christ will soon come to receive us unto Himself, regardless of the date.
