(The views expressed in this article are my personal interpretations of the Bible, particularly concerning biblical prophecy and the end times. They have come to me through endless study of the scriptures, as well as frequent prayerful searching for TRUTH. They are offered for discussion, study, and personal reflection. I do not claim special revelation, nor do I speak on behalf of any church, denomination, religious organization, or its leaders. Readers are encouraged to study the Scriptures for themselves, seek God’s guidance through prayer, and draw their own conclusions, for this is how truth is discovered.)
When most people imagine the greatest deception in history, they picture something obviously dark, wicked, and unmistakably evil. They expect the Antichrist to be immediately recognizable and false prophets to appear sinister. Yet the Bible paints a very different picture. The final deception will not come wrapped in darkness—it will come disguised as light. It will appear compassionate, reasonable, unifying, and perhaps even “Christian.“ That is precisely why so many will embrace it.
Jesus’ very first warning about the last days was not about wars, famines, earthquakes, or the mark of the beast. It was this:
“Take heed that no man deceive you.” (Matthew 24:4, KJV)
Later, He intensified the warning:
“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.” (Matthew 24:24, KJV)
Notice that Jesus did not say these deceivers would be easy to recognize. They will perform “great signs and wonders.” Their message will be convincing enough that, if it were possible, even God’s elect would be deceived. This tells us that the greatest deception will not look obviously false. It will look believable.
The Apostle Paul gave another startling warning:
“For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness.“ (2 Corinthians 11:13–15, KJV)
Satan’s greatest weapon has never been open rebellion alone—it has been counterfeit righteousness. He does not need every lie to look evil. He only needs it to look close enough to the truth that people stop examining it. His ministers appear as “ministers of righteousness.” They may speak of God, quote Scripture, use the name of Jesus, promote peace, and appear sincere. Yet if they preach another gospel or direct people away from complete trust in Christ, they are leading people away from the truth.
The book of Revelation shows that this deception will reach its climax. The beast will not rule by force alone. The False Prophet will persuade the world to worship him through signs and wonders.
“And he doeth great wonders… And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles…” (Revelation 13:13–14, KJV)
The issue is ultimately worship. The goal is not merely political control or economic influence. The goal is to redirect humanity’s allegiance away from Jesus Christ and toward another.
This is why the greatest danger in the last days is not merely recognizing the Antichrist—it is failing to recognize the counterfeit gospel that prepares the world to receive him. Any message that shifts your trust from the finished work of Jesus Christ to human effort, religious systems, special knowledge, traditions, or loyalty to a man should be carefully tested by the Scriptures. Paul warned:
“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you… let him be accursed.” (Galatians 1:8, KJV)
What if I were to tell you that this deception spoken of from the antichrist is not just a future event that will soon happen, what if it were, what I believe, is actually happening right now with a false prophet and false apostles preparing the world for the antichrist and false prophet, deceiving the very elect, as mentioned in these scriptures? Could this deception described above already be happening?
Christ Himself gave us a way to test these prophets and apostles to see if they are TRUE servants of His, or if they are false, as He is warning us about. Let’s go to the scriptures for these instructions of how we can tell the difference., if a prophet is true or false.
The Bible never tells believers to blindly accept someone simply because they claim to be a prophet. Instead, God commands us to test every teacher and every message against His Word. Here are those tests in which He is referring to:
1. Does their message agree with the Scriptures?
God never contradicts Himself. Any prophet’s teachings should be the same as the teachings of Jesus Christ when He was on the earth. If they conflict, then I can conclude that he is a FALSE prophet.
“To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.“ (Isaiah 8:20, KJV)
Paul gave an even stronger warning:
Galatians 1:6–9 (KJV)
6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
The Apostle Paul warns that there is only one true Gospel—the Gospel of salvation by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ. He was astonished that some believers were turning to “another gospel,” not because there are multiple true gospels, but because false teachers had added human requirements to the finished work of Christ. Paul makes it unmistakably clear that anyone—even an apostle or “an angel from heaven”—who preaches a different gospel is to be rejected. By repeating the warning twice, Paul emphasizes the seriousness of altering God’s plan of salvation. The Gospel cannot be improved by adding religious traditions, ceremonies, good works, or any human effort as a requirement for salvation. Jesus Christ accomplished everything necessary for our redemption through His death and resurrection, and salvation is received by faith in Him alone. Any message that adds to or changes that Gospel is, according to Paul, a dangerous distortion of the truth.
Let’s do this test right now with a man who claims to be a prophet of God. Here are some teachings to compare:
Salvation Requirement – (Living with Jesus Christ for all eternity)
Christ’s Gospel Teaching – Ephesians 2:8–9 KJV
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Compared to Mormon teaching – 2 Nephi 25:23 (Book of Mormon) states:
“For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.“
I believe, these are different gospels. Christ teaches that salvation is a gift, received by those who have faith in him, and have nothing to do with our good works. The Mormon prophet teaches that we are saved, after all that we can do.
Here is another gospel teaching.
Born Again – Process
The Bible teaches that being born again is an immediate spiritual rebirth that occurs when a person places their faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. Jesus told Nicodemus, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3, KJV), explaining that this new birth is the work of the Holy Spirit (John 3:5–8). Those who receive Christ by faith become the children of God (John 1:12–13), and salvation is “the gift of God: Not of works” (Ephesians 2:8–9; Titus 3:5, KJV). In contrast,
Mormon prophet teaching has historically connected entering the kingdom of God with faith in Christ together with ordinances, covenants, and continued obedience within the restored church. Because of this, many Christians see a fundamental difference: the New Testament presents the new birth as God’s complete work of grace received through faith in Christ, while Latter-day Saint doctrine places it within a broader covenant path that includes required ordinances and lifelong covenant faithfulness.
These again, I have concluded, are not the same gospel. Let’s consider one more:
Temples
The New Testament teaches that Jesus Christ fulfilled the purpose of the Old Testament temple by offering Himself as the perfect and final sacrifice for sin. At His death, “the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom” (Matthew 27:51, KJV), signifying that through His atonement every believer now has direct access to God. The apostles taught that God “dwelleth not in temples made with hands” (Acts 17:24, KJV), and that Jesus Christ is our eternal High Priest through whom we may “come boldly unto the throne of grace” (Hebrews 4:14–16, KJV). There isn’t any teaching of additional temple rituals that was ever taught by Jesus Christ or His apostles mention in scripture taught by Jesus or His apostles.
For this reason, many Christians conclude that the New Testament does not teach temple ordinances as necessary for salvation, exaltation, or access to God’s presence. Instead, Jesus consistently pointed people to faith in Himself, declaring, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me“ (John 14:6, KJV). From this perspective, Christ Himself—not a temple—is the believer’s access to the Father.
Mormon prophet teaching
The Mormon church teaches that temples are essential for performing sacred ordinances and making covenants that are believed to be necessary for receiving the highest degree of exaltation and for families to be sealed together for eternity. These temple ordinances include the endowment, eternal marriage (sealings), and ordinances performed by proxy for deceased persons. As a result, worthy temple attendance occupies a central role in Latter-day Saint worship and discipleship.
Again, these are not the same gospel, in my opinion.
But what about receiving this new teaching from a former man proclaiming that He was a prophet, and even receiving some new gospel through an angel? Let’s return to the defining boundries of scripture:
“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you… let him be accursed.” (Galatians 1:8, KJV)
No man, nor even an angle has the authority to change, or introduce new doctrine to the Gospel of Jesus Christ as He and His apostles preached when they were on the earth. Jesus taught the ENTIRE gospel when He was on the earth! As this scripture indicates, no one has the authority to add, change, or alter the gospel that Christ taught, not even an angel.
Let’s continue with other scriptures that help us identify if a man proclaiming to be a prophet, or apostle is false:
2. Do they point people to Jesus Christ—or to themselves or church?
A true prophet magnifies Christ, not himself, NOR their church.
Jesus said:
“He shall glorify me.” (John 16:14, KJV)
If a person’s ministry centers on loyalty to themselves, their organization, or their authority rather than Jesus Christ, Scripture gives reason for caution about the truthfulness of that prophet.
3. Do their prophecies come to pass?
God gave Israel this test:
“When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass… the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously.” (Deuteronomy 18:22, KJV)
A prophet speaking for God does not make false predictions. Let’s consider some of the notable prophecies from Mormon “prophets” that I believe did not come to be:
The Independence, Missouri Temple
Doctrine and Covenants 84:2–5
Joseph Smith prophesied that a temple would be built in Independence, Missouri, and stated:
“…this generation shall not all pass away, until an house shall be built unto the Lord…”
This temple was not built during this generation, and still has not been. In fact, the Mormon church doesn’t even own the land of the “temple lot,” where the temple was presumable supposed to be built.
Joseph Smith’s – The Coming of the Lord and Age 85
Doctrine and Covenants 130:14–17
This scripture records an account from Joseph Smith in which he described asking the Lord about the timing of the Second Coming. According to the passage, Joseph said he was told that if he lived until he was 85 years old, he would see the face of the Son of Man. Because Joseph Smith died at age 38, this passage remains debated. However, Jesus Christ did not return in the year 1890, which is when Joseph would have turned 85.
The Salem Treasure
Doctrine and Covenants 111
Joseph Smith traveled to Salem, Massachusetts, after receiving a revelation stating:
“…I have much treasure in this city for you…”
No financial treasure was ever discovered in Salem by Joseph Smith.
Oliver Cowdery’s Gift
Doctrine and Covenants 8
Oliver Cowdery was told he had the gift to translate ancient records.
After an unsuccessful attempt, he never translated additional ancient records.
The Redemption of Zion
Doctrine and Covenants 101; 103; 105
Joseph Smith repeatedly taught that Zion (Jackson County, Missouri) would be redeemed.
The Saints never regained Jackson County during Joseph Smith’s lifetime, and the anticipated redemption did not occur then.
Brigham Young on Adam-God
Brigham Young taught on multiple occasions that Adam was “our Father and our God.” This teaching was never accepted as official doctrine by the modern LDS Church, however, it was taught by a person who claimed to be a “prophet” of God.
Priesthood Restriction
For many years, LDS leaders taught that Black men could not receive the priesthood because of divine reasons tied to premortal existence or the curse of Cain or Ham. In 1978, the restriction ended through Official Declaration 2. What followed is quite troubling. The Church has since stated that past explanations for the restriction were not official doctrine and has disavowed theories used to justify it. Does this sound like prophetic administration to you. I KNOWthat the gospel of Jesus Christ remains constant, and never changes, because of scripture teachings.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ never changes because Jesus Christ Himself never changes. “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever” (Hebrews 13:8, KJV). The Apostle Paul warned that there is only one Gospel, and anyone—even “an angel from heaven”—who preaches a different gospel is to be rejected (Galatians 1:6–9, KJV). Jude likewise declared that the faith was “once delivered unto the saints” (Jude 3, KJV), meaning God’s plan of salvation was fully revealed through Christ and His apostles. Because Jesus finished the work of redemption on the cross (John 19:30), the Gospel does not need to be revised, expanded, or supplemented with additional requirements for salvation. Every generation is called not to seek a new gospel, but to believe the same unchanging Gospel of God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
4. Do they produce Godly fruit?
Jesus said:
“Beware of false prophets… Ye shall know them by their fruits.” (Matthew 7:15–16, KJV)
This is not talking about church members as fruit. It is stating that we should test the prophet specifically himself. Their doctrine, character, their honesty, their ability to acknowledge when they are wrong, their humility, and the effect of their ministry, should reflect the holiness and truth of Christ. How do you see the leader of this church? Are they always honest. humble, and teach the gospel of Jesus Christ as recorded in the New Testament?
5. Do they lead people to worship God alone, or do they preach worshiping the church?
Even if someone performs signs or miracles, God says they are false if they lead people away from Him.
“If there arise among you a prophet… and giveth thee a sign or a wonder… saying, Let us go after other gods… thou shalt not hearken.” (Deuteronomy 13:1–3, KJV)
Miracles, or visits from angles alone never prove that someone speaks for God. And what might other gods be that this scripture is referring to? Could these other gods be the pursuit of financial wealth? Or, building an empire for the church with the construction of glamorous buildings? We’ve just learned that temples are no longer used in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and that God’s spirit does not “dwell in temples built with hands.” I Believe that these temples are not for God as claimed, they are financial assets of the church, and part of the churches “kingdom, or empire.”
6. Do these prophets and apostles encourage you to search the Scriptures, or do they preach: “Trust Us?”
“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:21 (KJV)
Does this prophet teach that we should prove all things through the teachings of Jesus Christ as recorded in the Bible, or does he simply say, “Trust us?”
Does a member of this church feel that they are doing something wrong when questioning a leader or doctrine of the church, or do they feel supported in doing their own research to “prove all things?”
When the apostles were on the earth, the Bereans were commended because they did not simply accept Paul’s teaching.
“They received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.“ (Acts 17:11, KJV)
Every preacher, teacher, and prophet must be tested by the Bible. They should be encouraging their followers, and support them in testing all things.
“It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.”
— Psalm 118:8 (KJV)
The safest place for every believer is not to trust any man blindly, but to know Jesus Christ personally, be born again, and remain firmly grounded in the Word of God. I believe that a true prophet will never ask you to place your faith in him—he will always point you to Jesus Christ and the Scriptures.
Are you currently caught in the spell of deception in following a false prophet? I must say that if you are, you are going to have an extremely difficult time when the antichrist enters the world stage. I believe that false prophets are already on the earth, and the adversary is just getting warmed up.
I thank God each day for the scriptures. I am very grateful that He has fulfilled this scripture for me:
Amos 3:7 (KJV)
“Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.”
Before God judges the earth during the final 7-year Tribulation period, He has already revealed His plan in great detail to His True Prophets, who have recorded these events in the Bible. What are the things that are about to happen on the earth? We already know because of these prophets, and the loving desire that God had in sharing them with us. Her are the end times prophecies:

Since, I believe there is not a prophet on the earth today, it is important to know that God has revealed all of these things related to the final 7 years, so that we can know His Plan. Your spiritual survival is up to YOU and God. You can not use the excuse that you were following a false prophet to tell you these things, for God has already revealed all of these details so that you will know.
Sadly, I realize that there are many who will remain trapped in religious deception, because of pride, or the lack of desire to study for themselves. I’ve realized over these past four years just how deceptive the adversary can be in the name of religion, as well as many who have given him control over their very lives through a false gospel. His deception is very convincing, and some just do not have the desire to realize that they have been dooped.
So, for those of you reading this today, that still want to remain in the comfort of what I believe is a false religion, please at least study the prophecies from GOD relating to what is about to happen. If not, it is VERY Likely that you will be deceived by the antichrist and the false prophet into taking the mark of the beast and losing your very soul, resulting in spending eternity in the lake of fire rather than heaven. I have warned you, even if you refuse to listen today.
For the rest of you, our preparation is important. Study the rapture and what it means to be “in Christ” as the scripture states as the qualifier to be “caught up.” If you are not already, become Born Again, as beautifully taught by Christ in the New Testament. Place your entire faith in His atonement, and know that it is only because of Him that a person can be saved. In doing so, you will be included in the rapture that will soon happen.
For those who refuse to do this, study all of the details regarding the final seven years as listed above, for you will have to endure all of these, as God will be pouring out His wrath onto all of the inhabitants of the earth, which will include you. You need to know what is coming so that you do not take the mark of the beast, and lose your soul to the devil.
And for the remaining few that have no desire to know what is going to happen, you might want to consider how a person might survive living in the lake of fire. =)
I realize that my time as a “watchman” is coming to an end. I thank God for this assignment, and have immensely enjoyed studying the writings of the Bible. I have learned how loving God is in telling us everything that He plans to do in our lifetime, and more importantly, how a person can escape the coming “flood,”(Tribulation Period) with our ark being the rapture. God always cares and protects those who are His, which is never the majority of people.
I’ve also learned how just God is as well. He has given the world approximately 6026 years to come to Jesus Christ, yet there are many who have ignored His call and have chosen to follow the adversary, even through a false religion. The coming 7 years will be God’s time of dealing with evil, and those who have not yet come to Christ. These will be the most terrifying years on earth, due to God serving justice.
Through my assignment, I have learned the sorrow that Christ Himself must have felt because of others, when he cried out these words:
Matthew 23:37 (KJV).
37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
Even the Savior Himself had people turn away, and not listen to Him and His gospel teachings. I have felt in a similar feeling of despair that comes when people reject the Gospel of Jesus Christ that I have been sharing. He spoke the truth, and these same words have been rejected by so many that I have been trying to help. It saddens me to know that some will need to Come to Christ “the hard way” through the humbling events that God has planned to occur during the final 7 years on earth.
I use to think that the majority of people will be going to heaven, because after all, this mortality is God’s plan. But though my study, I have come to think differently. We are NOT all children of God, for the gospel teaches otherwise:
John 1:12–13 (KJV)
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
Galatians 3:26 (KJV)
“For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.”
The scriptures teach that only those who have become spiritually Born Again are children of God. And sadly, the majority of people who have lived upon the earth have not accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior. The process is so simple, as taught by the example of the thief on the cross. This spiritual rebirth is a complete trust in Jesus Christ as the reason that we are saved. The adversary has clouded the Gospel of Jesus Christ by adding so many other things that we NEED to do first, which takes some of the glory away from Christ Himself. We are saved because of Him…and I believe NOT our church, Not our good works, Not because of religious or temple rituals, Not in secret tokens or handshakes, Not in anything else. And until a person comes to realize and accept this truth, I believe, they are not yet children of God, and will not receive the blessings tht He has promised us, especially in the rescue plan of the rapture.
“Enter ye in at the strait gate… because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it” (Matthew 7:13–14, KJV).
I now believe that those going to heaven will be “FEW,” as taught in this scripture.
The way forward is simple, but requires some study on your part. I pray that you all will see the urgency of avoiding, what I feel, are false prophets and apostles who are currently on the earth, as well as those who are about to come. Your salvation is at stake. God’s speed, and I hope to meet you “in the air “with our beloved Savior, Jesus Christ. What a joyous day this will be!!!
