(The views expressed in this article are my personal interpretations of the Bible, particularly concerning biblical prophecy and the end times. They are offered for discussion, study, and personal reflection. I do not claim special revelation, nor do I speak on behalf of any church, denomination, religious organization, or its leaders. Readers are encouraged to study the Scriptures for themselves, seek God’s guidance through prayer, and draw their own conclusions.)
There are many people that have come to realize that their very own church has deceived them. The least likely man or organization ever thought possible, has actually been deceiving their members with untruths. This has been emotionally devastating for many of us.
One of the greatest deceptions is that their prophet will never lead them astray. This belief is woven in the very fabric of their spirituality. Singing songs as a young child about it, lessons about this very fact, as well as continual discussion and dedication to this principle are evidence of this deeply held belief.
But here is the danger. We are about to enter into the 7-year tribulation period. A period of time when a person can lose their very soul by taking the mark of the beast. Many likely do not even know about it, for the “prophet” that they are trusting is not teaching much of anything about the end times, other than Jesus Christ will soon come for the Second Coming.
Do you realize that the most devastating 7 years in the history on earth MUST take place FIRST, before Jesus Christ comes back for His second coming? Do you even understand what the purpose of this 7-year period is even about?
Jesus is not coming back at the end of this Tribulation period with all love and hugs, as many have been taught. He is coming back to defeat evil. He is coming with a “vengeance” to destroy the antichrist and all of his followers.
I have close family and friends who trust this prophet on a very unhealthy level. Let me explain. When asked if they had feelings that go against the prophet’s direction, what they would do. Their answer – They would FOLLOW THE PROPHET. When pressed further, if they took that issue to God in prayer, and God gave them a personal revelation to do something against what the prophet commanded, what would they do then? Again, a solid answer of – FOLLOW THE PROPHET.
Can you see in this case, a person has chosen a man over God? They have chosen to follow a CHURCH over following God’s direct revelation. Can’t you see the danger here?
Most members always fire back with the expression, “We’ve been promised that the prophet will never lead us astray!” They assume that this promise came from God, but that is not the case at all. The promise came from “the Church.”
The statement that the President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will never lead the Church astray is a doctrine taught by LDS leaders, but there is no verse in the Bible, nor Mormon scripture that explicitly makes that promise.
The teaching is most commonly traced to Wilford Woodruff, the 4th President of the LDS Church. In 1890, when announcing the Manifesto that ended the practice of new plural marriages, he said:
“The Lord will never permit me or any other man who stands as President of this Church to lead you astray.”
Woodruff then stated that if he attempted to do so, the Lord would remove him from his position.
You can read the official LDS explanation at Official Declaration 1 (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints).
Wilford Woodruff publicly made the statement, and it is not a recorded direct quotation from God in LDS scripture.
But hold on…there’s more. Let’s actually look at biblical history to examine where “Prophets of God” actually did lead people astray. That would be interesting, right?
- Peter was publicly corrected by Paul (Galatians 2:11–14).
- King David committed serious sins.
- Solomon fell into idolatry.
- Many Old Testament kings and religious leaders led people astray.
Because of these examples, many Christians believe that all human leaders should be tested against God’s written word rather than assumed incapable of leading people into error. God never gave that promise for ANY of His prophets!
The KJV teaches:
“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:21
And:
“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God.”
— 1 John 4:1
For a moment, use common sense here. If God were to tell you something, why would you ignore that and do something that a man suggests that is different? A prophet of God is supposed to speak for God; NOT speak against what God would say. Can you see the displaced loyalty to God here by following a man, regardless of what He says?
You might think, “The prophet has never led me astray in the past.” Again, I must challenge this logic.
Because of the craftiness of the adversary, many “church leaders” are NOT teaching about the events of the 7-year Tribulation Period (end-times). Let me show you what your prophet has NOT taught you:

As I mentioned, one of the events has the possibility of YOU losing your soul by taking the mark of the beast.
If a prophet or church leader consistently avoids teaching what the Bible says about the end times—especially concerning the Mark of the Beast—he may unintentionally leave people unprepared for one of the greatest deceptions Scripture warns will come upon the world.
Jesus repeatedly instructed His followers to “watch” and be aware of the signs of His return (Matthew 24:42), while the book of Revelation specifically warns that receiving the Mark of the Beast will bring God’s judgment upon those who accept it (Revelation 14:9–11, KJV).
Because of the seriousness of these warnings, a leader who neglects to teach them may cause members to become spiritually complacent, unaware of future dangers, and less able to discern truth from deception when difficult choices arise. If God included these prophecies in Scripture for the instruction and protection of believers, then faithfully teaching them is part of helping God’s people remain vigilant, informed, and steadfast in their devotion to Jesus Christ.
So, what can you do if you display this unwavering loyalty to a “prophet?” The answer is simple, and SOLID. No man, nor church should be the final answer with anything spiritual. If you don’t have a direct relationship with God, this is the place that you need to start.
For those of you who already have this relationship, TRUST HIM. Take all of your concerns to Him in prayer, and listen for His direction. YOU KNOW, that He will warn you about upcoming dangers, so trust Him.
I must show you another deception that church “prophets” support and has used to lead you astray.
Galatians 1:8–9 (KJV)
“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.”
Jesus Christ taught His gospel when He was on the earth. Paul’s point is that the true gospel does not change. No person, religious leader, prophet, church, or even an angel should be accepted if they teach a gospel different from the one already delivered by Christ and His apostles.
This is reinforced by Jude’s instruction:
Jude 1:3 (KJV)
“…ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.”
Joeseph Smith did NOT restore the gospel of Jesus Christ… He CHANGED it, dramatically. I would like for you to see this for yourself. A.I. has the scanning ability to scan the entire church doctrine, as well as the entire New Testament and compare the results.
In a search, type in, “What are the differences between the Mormon doctrine compared to the Gospel of Jesus Christ that He taught when He was on the earth?”
This is what you will find:
| Topic | Traditional LDS Teaching | KJV Interpretation |
| Scripture | Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, Pearl of Great Price | Bible alone is the final written authority 2 Timothy 3:16–17, Acts 17:11, Isaiah 8:20, Galatians 1:8–9, Jude 1:3, Revelation 22:18–19, Proverbs 30:5–6, 1 Corinthians 4:6, Psalm 119:89 |
| Continuing Revelation | God continues to reveal doctrine through living prophets | The gospel was delivered once to the saints Jude 1:3, Galatians 1:8–9, Hebrews 1:1–2, 2 Timothy 1:13–14, 2 Timothy 3:14–15 |
| Nature of God | Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are distinct beings united in purpose | One God existing eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit 1 Timothy 2:5, John 4:24, Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 45:5, Psalm 90:2, 1 Timothy 1:17, Malachi 3:6, Isaiah 6:3, 1 John 4:16, Isaiah 43:10 |
| Exaltation | Faithful believers may inherit all that the Father has and become like Him in eternity | Believers are glorified but remain created beings forever, not God’s Isaiah 43:10 Isaiah 44:5-6,8, Isaiah 45:5, Deuteronomy 6:4, 1 Timothy 1:17, John 17:3 |
| Pre-Mortal Existence | Human spirits lived with God before earthly birth | Humans begin existence as God’s creations and are not described as pre-existent spirits Genesis 2:7, 21-22, Zechariah 12:1, Psalm 100:3, Ecclesiastes 12:7 |
| Salvation | Salvation includes faith, repentance, baptism, good works, ordinances, and enduring faithfully to the end | Salvation is by grace through faith not from works Ephesians 2:8–9, Romans 11:6, Titus 3:5–7, Romans 4:4–5, Galatians 2:16, Galatians 3:11, 2 Timothy 1:9, Romans 3:28, |
| Priesthood Authority | Saving ordinances require priesthood authority restored through Joseph Smith | Believers have direct access to God through Christ; no restored priesthood lineage required 1 Timothy 2:5, Ephesians 2:18, Ephesians 3:12, Hebrews 4:14-16, Hebrews 10:19-22, 1 Peter 2:5, Hebrews 7:24-25, |
| Temples | Modern temples are essential for certain ordinances and covenants | Christ fulfilled the temple system; believers are God’s temple 1 Corinthians 3:16-17, Matthew 5:17, Acts 7:48–50, Acts 17:24–25, Hebrews 10:1, 10–12, Hebrews 9:11–12, John 2:19–21, Matthew 27:50–51, 1 Corinthians 6:19–20, 2 Corinthians 6:16, Hebrews 4:14–16 |
| Baptism for the Dead | Proxy baptisms can be performed for deceased individuals | Most Christians do not interpret 1 Corinthians 15:29 as establishing a doctrine or practice |
| Eternal Marriage | A husband and wife can be sealed in a temple and remain married forever in the next life if they are faithful to their covenants. | Marriage is an earthly institution that does not continue as husband-and-wife marriage after the resurrection. (Matthew 22:29-30, KJV) (Luke 20:34-36, KJV) |
The very foundation of the Mormon church centers around temple ordinances, and the fact that we can become Gods and Goddesses, and hove spirit children and our own worlds after this life. ALL UNTRUE!
From a biblical perspective, the claim that humans can become gods and goddesses, create spirit offspring, and rule over their own worlds is not merely an error—it is a direct contradiction of God’s repeated declaration that He alone is God.
Such teachings echo the ancient temptation in Eden, “ye shall be as gods” (Genesis 3:5, KJV), replacing the biblical gospel of salvation by grace through faith with the promise of exaltation to deity. Since Scripture teaches that there never was, nor ever will be, any God besides the LORD (Isaiah 43:10; Isaiah 44:6; Isaiah 45:5, KJV), many Christians consider these doctrines blasphemous because they assign divine attributes and status to created beings that belong exclusively to God.
We haven’t much time left before the rapture will take place. My first question, if I were you would be, “Am I qualified to be taken in the rapture, or will I be left behind to have to endure the 7-year Tribulation period?”
Study the New Testament teachings to learn what it means to be “Born Again” and to be “in Christ.” If you have had this spiritual transformation within you, you will be included in God’s rescue plan, and will be taken up into the clouds to meet the Lord in the air…and will “forever be with the Lord.
Thessalonians 4:16–18 (KJV) — The Main Rapture Passage
“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”
The phrase “caught up” is the key verse from which the doctrine of the rapture is derived.
1 Corinthians 15:51–52 (KJV)
“Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”
Paul reveals a mystery that living believers will be instantly transformed into our perfect bodies during this process.
Decide, right now to Follow God, and let go of this deceptive chain of following a prophet regardless of what God tells you to do.
Yes, you need to be uncomfortable right now because there is so much at stake. God has given us one third of the Bible dedicated to end times prophecy for us to learn what will take place. The fact that you leader is not talking about it is no indication if you should learn about it or not. God told His Prophets in the bible all of the details of the end times. He wants you to know about them. Don’t be a “Lazy Learner” and rely on others to tell you what to believe.
I am praying for all of you to turn to Jesus Christ and become “born again” as taught so beautifully in the New Testament. This should be your immediate focus, for this is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
If you miss the rapture, you will be subject to the 7-year Tribulation Period. Hardship, suffering, and a high risk to be deceived by the antichrist. It is God’s plan to use this period of time to humble people who have not yet come to Him.
It is SO MUCH EASIER to come to Christ right Now!!! His plan for those who are “in Christ” as the scripture states, is to be rescued in the event known as the Rapture. The choice is yours… and certainly not your churches. Get after it right NOW. I hope to see you soon in the clouds.
