A Prophecy that “Doesn’t Fit” Right Now into the Timeline of End Times – Ezekiel 38:8-16 – “Peace in Israel Prior to the Gog-Magog Battle”. Let’s Unwind the Confusion Together (KJV)

November 1, 2026 | www.GospelofJesusChrist.blog | River Wilde

As usual, I am obsessed with the timeline of the end times, and the order and timing when each of the prophecies will occur.

Let me back up a bit and start from the beginning:

The only prophecy for certain in establishing a timeline is the 7-year Peace Agreement, which is confirmed with Israel and surrounding countries. This starts the Final 7-year period time – The 7-Year Tribulation Period.

However, there are other pieces of prophecy that need to be considered, as to where they should be placed in the timeline of the end times:

Rapture

Peace in Israel Prior to the Gog Magog Battle

Gog Magog Battle

Weapons will burn for 7 years

Jedea will flee to the mountains

God’s Purpose in demonstrating His Power

To begin, we must remove the rapture as a given, that it will be the very next event. Let’s just set that belief aside for just a moment.

The Gog and Magog battle has some fascinating clues, regarding timing that I would like to discuss today.

This battle does not take place until Israel is in a state of peace. From a biblical prophecy perspective (KJV), this is important because Ezekiel 38 describes Israel as a people dwelling:

“at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates.” “In that day when my people of Israel dwelleth safely…”

Ezekiel 38:8 (KJV)

“After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.”

Ezekiel 38:11 (KJV)

“And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,”

Ezekiel 38:14–16 (KJV)

“Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say unto Gog, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In that day when my people of Israel dwelleth safely, shalt thou not know it?

And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army:

And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days…”

So, we have to ask…Is this the case right now? Is Israel at peace?

Israel is not presently experiencing lasting peace because of ongoing hostility and security threats involving Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, Iran, and other militant groups.

Despite diplomatic agreements and ceasefire efforts, Israel continues to face the possibility of terrorist attacks, missile strikes, and renewed military conflict.

Absorb what we have just learned, for it is tremendously important. The Gog Magog battle will not begin until Israel is in a state of peace.

There is a second factor regarding this battle that needs to be considered as well.

According to scripture, after the Gog Magog battle, the weapons used in this battle will be burned by those in Israel for SEVEN YEARS.

Ezekiel 39:9 (KJV)

“And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the handstaves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire seven years:”

Ezekiel 39:10 (KJV)

“So that they shall take no wood out of the field, neither cut down any out of the forests; for they shall burn the weapons with fire: and they shall spoil those that spoiled them, and rob those that robbed them, saith the Lord GOD.”

This information places the Gog Magog battle happening prior to the 7-year peace agreement, due to the fact that the weapons being burned MUST have a seven-year period to be burned.

Here is another twist in the timing. At the midpoint of the 7 year period, the people of Judea will flee into the mountains. If they flee to the mountains, they will not be left in Israel to continue burning the weapons for the entire 7 years as stated in this scripture.

Matthew 24:15–16 (KJV)

“When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:”

This was initially troublesome for me. Does this mean that the Gog Magog battle must start 3.5 years PRIOR to the 7-year tribulation period even beginning?

Let’s look closer at this teaching.

We can see again in scripture that not all of the people of Israel will flee to the mountains at this time. JUST the people of Jediah. There will still be people left in Israel to continue burning the weapons as stated.

”they that dwell in the cities of Israel” are the ones burning the weapons, and those fleeing to the mountains will be “…let them which be in Judaea.”

This places us back on track, to the battle happening shortly before, the seven-year tribulation begins, leaving the necessary time of 7 years available for the weapons to be burned.

Another piece of the puzzle would be to know how long this war would last. The weapons will not start to be burned until after the battle has concluded. Let’s see if we can’t flush out any information regarding this.

Even though there isn’t any scripture stating the duration of the war, it does give us this information:

Ezekiel 38:21–22 (KJV)

“And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains, saith the Lord GOD: every man’s sword shall be against his brother.

And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.”

During the Gog Magog battle, God will intervene directly and destroy the invading armies. This is a VERY IMPORTANT part of this end times event. God will be the one ending the war, through supernatural ways.

The primary purpose of God supernaturally destroying the armies of Gog and Magog is to demonstrate His supreme power to Israel, and the entire world, so that all nations will know that He is the God.

God tells us His purpose very clearly in Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39.

God wants the entire world to recognize His power

Ezekiel 38:23 (KJV)

“Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD.”

God will defeat these enormous invading armies through supernatural intervention, rather than Israel’s military strength.

God wants the nations to witness His glory

Ezekiel 39:21 (KJV)

“And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them.”

This is especially significant because God intends His victory to be witnessed and recognized among the nations.

God wants Israel to know that He is their God, and has not forgotten them.

Ezekiel 39:22 (KJV)

“So the house of Israel shall know that I am the LORD their God from that day and forward.”

God’s intervention will serve as a powerful demonstration to Israel that He has not abandoned His people.

So, because this is the entire purpose of the battle, I feel that we can reasonably conclude that this battle will be short in duration. It might even be as short as a matter of days. God is protecting Israel, and wants the world to know His power. The battle is not intended to destroy the people of Israel; thus, God will intervene quickly.

With all of this that information which we have discussed, we can comfortably place the Gog Magog war happening “shortly” before the antichrist being revealed and the start of the 7-year tribulation period.

Now, let’s revisit the Rapture timing.

Man of us were CERTAIN that the rapture would be next. But let’s consider what we have just learned about the Gog Magog battle.

The rapture timing has to be prior to the antichrist being revealed. This we know because God will be removing His spirit, (which resides inside those who belong to Him), before allowing the antichrist to take the world stage.

2 Thessalonians 2:6–8 (KJV)

“And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:”

Meaning – In the pre-Tribulation interpretation of Bible prophecy:

  1. The Holy Spirit is presently restraining evil, preventing the Antichrist from being revealed before God’s appointed time.
  2. At the Rapture, born-again believers are taken to Heaven (1 Thessalonians 4:16–17).
  3. The Holy Spirit’s restraining ministry is removed, allowing the Antichrist to be revealed.
  4. The Antichrist is revealed, as described in 2 Thessalonians 2:8.

So now, three possible scenarios exist:

Sequence ASequence BSequence C

Israel experiences securityGog and Magog WarRapture

Midpoint of TribulationMidpoint of TribulationMidpoint of Tribulation

Let’s continue…

To place the sequence position of the rapture, we must look at the PURPOSE of the why God is coming for His people.

The primary purpose of the Rapture is for Jesus Christ to gather His born-again believers to Himself, deliver them from the coming wrath, transform their mortal bodies into glorified bodies, and bring them into His presence forever.

1 Thessalonians 5:9 (KJV)

“For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,”

The Gog Magog battle is NOT God’s wrath; it is His glory to be witnessed. This means that the Rapture does NOT need to happen prior to this battle. HOWEVER, it also does NOT mean that the rapture will not happen before the battle begins either.

Let’s take a snapshot of today’s environment.

We have just learned that Iran has made threats of violence towards American targets. The “World” is preparing by being told to have supplies to be self sufficient for a short period of time. This all indicates a direction far from PEACE, right?

Up until last night, I had in the back of my mind thought that the peace that was mentioned in Israel would come from the seven-year agreement. I also knew that we would be raptured prior to that event occurring. The Gog Magog battle scripture teachings seemed to challenge this.

Peace needs to come to Israel for the battle to begin, but it will have to come through something different than this 7-year agreement, So let’s look at what we know regarding any indications of this peace coming.

As of today, November 1, 2026, several significant peace negotiations involving Israel and its regional adversaries are underway or remain unresolved. These developments are particularly interesting in light of this writing about Ezekiel 38–39 and Daniel 9:27.

Latest peace developments involving Israel

1. Iran, Israel, and the United States — November 1

Iranian negotiators and Qatari mediators are meeting in Doha for a third consecutive day, attempting to reach an agreement ending the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran.

President Trump reportedly favors allowing negotiations more time, while Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu is concerned about delaying further military action. No final agreement has been announced.

2. Israel and Lebanon — October 29

The United States has been mediating negotiations between Israel and Lebanon. Major issues include Israeli troop withdrawals, border security, and Hezbollah’s disarmament.

Lebanon’s president recently stated that important disagreements remain unresolved.

3. Israel and Gaza — November 1

A U.S.-brokered ceasefire agreement remains in place as a diplomatic framework, but its implementation is stalled over Hamas disarmament and Israeli troop withdrawals. Deadly strikes have continued.

The important possibility: These negotiations could eventually lead to a period of peace and security in Israel, potentially setting the stage for the Gog and Magog war.

Everything could happen very quickly. I know that the rapture will soon happen, I have felt that “testimony” in my soul strongly.

But we could very well see peace coming to Israel, followed by the Gog Magog battle, witness the hand of God in resolving that conflict, the Rapture and then have the signing of the 7-year peace agreement, all in a matter of months.

I have to be honest here; I HOPE that this is the case. I would love to be present to see the prophecy of God resolving this conflict before we are raptured. God’s witness to the world that He is all powerful, is something that I would love to see, and be a part of.

I will leave the placement of the rapture for you to determine. To be honest, it really doesn’t matter in regards to order, as I feel that it will be coming very soon, regardless of where it is placed in the chronological order.

I invite all of you to take this information to God and let Him reveal the truth to you regarding the prophecies that He has shared with His Prophets. This is information that He wants you to know for a reason…He wants us to be informed of the events of our day.

The emotion of this day to me is EXCITEMENT. We get to be a part of one of the most important times in history…Aren’t you humbled to have been chosen to live in this period of time, to witness and teach others about Jesus Christ? To actually see and be a part of these prophecies?

There are hardships, wars, and uncertainty that seem to create fear in the hearts of many during our present day.  Yet to many of us, we are watching God’s plan being carried out, just as He told us would be happening… I AM IN AWE!

I ask that you join me in keeping an eye on Israel in relationship to PEACE. And then this…

1 Thessalonians 5:3 (KJV)

“For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.”

The sudden destruction is directed toward unbelieving, spiritually unprepared people, not exclusively Israel.

I hope this information has been helpful to you today. Don’t you just love the scriptures? I certainly do.

As always, stay tuned for more writings, as we experience these end times together. “God’s Speed!”
