Something Unusual Is Happening Around the World
For those of you who are involved with the news of the day, I’m certain that you are aware of what has recently been announced throughout the world.
The United States military is preparing for the possibility of operating independently for 90 days without outside support, while governments in other countries are encouraging their citizens to have emergency supplies sufficient to survive for several days.
These are not simply rumors circulating on social media. They are developments being reported by major news organizations and discussed by government officials.
The United States has introduced an initiative known as FORTRESS America, designed to protect military installations from disruptions to electricity, communications, fuel, water, and other essential services.
Meanwhile, governments in Europe and Asia have been strengthening emergency preparedness recommendations for their citizens.
Why is this happening?
What are government officials concerned about?
Are they anticipating a major war, a widespread electrical-grid failure, a cyberattack, or some other catastrophe?
And perhaps most importantly for those of us who study the King James Version of the Bible:
Could these developments have anything to do with the warnings Jesus Christ gave us concerning the last days before His return?
Let’s investigate the facts and compare them with the Word of God.
1. What Is FORTRESS America, and Why Is the Pentagon Preparing?
On September 30, 2026, the Pentagon announced the FORTRESS America initiative, designed to strengthen the ability of America’s military installations to operate during a national emergency.
On October 25, Fox News reported additional details concerning the military’s preparations.
According to that reporting, the Pentagon wants major military installations to sustain essential operations independently for at least 90 days, even if civilian infrastructure and normal supply chains are severely disrupted.
The initiative includes:
- Independent electricity generation at military bases.
- Protected supplies of water, fuel, food, and medical necessities.
- Improved defenses against cyberattacks and sabotage.
- Stronger domestic manufacturing and supply chains.
- Communications systems capable of operating during widespread disruptions.
- Strategic reserves of materials needed for military operations.
These are preparations for circumstances that could seriously interfere with America’s ability to defend itself.
An October 29 government statement also described plans for a prototype military base designed to operate independently of outside utilities for 30 days. This is a separate design benchmark from the reported 90-day operational goal.
Think about what this means.
The United States, possessing one of the most powerful military forces in history, is taking significant steps to ensure that its military can continue operating even if the civilian infrastructure surrounding its installations becomes unavailable.
This does not prove that an attack is imminent. It does, however, demonstrate that military planners consider such disruptions serious enough to prepare for.
And that raises another important question:
If the military is preparing for extended interruptions to electricity, water, fuel, and communications, what would happen to ordinary citizens during such an emergency?
2. Other Nations Are Warning Their Citizens to Prepare
America is not the only country taking emergency preparedness seriously.
In October 2026, the United Kingdom introduced renewed public warnings encouraging households to maintain essential emergency supplies.
Luxembourg also distributed a preparedness guide explaining how residents could remain self-sufficient for 72 hours during a crisis.
Other countries, including Germany, Japan, and Taiwan, have emergency preparedness programs addressing possible disruptions from natural disasters, military conflicts, infrastructure failures, and other threats.
Citizens are being encouraged to maintain supplies such as drinking water, nonperishable food, necessary medications, flashlights, batteries, and emergency communications equipment.
Why?
Because governments recognize that a serious emergency could interrupt the services that millions of people depend upon every day.
Consider how dependent modern civilization has become upon electricity.
Without electrical power, fuel pumps may stop operating. Grocery stores may struggle to receive deliveries. Banking systems and electronic payments may become unavailable. Water treatment and distribution systems could be affected. Hospitals may need emergency power to maintain essential services.
Our modern world is technologically advanced, but it is also remarkably dependent upon interconnected systems.
However, we must understand something important: these government warnings do not establish that officials know a particular catastrophe is coming. Preparedness programs address many possible emergencies, and some have existed for years.
Nevertheless, they provide a timely reason to consider what the Bible teaches about uncertainty, preparedness, and the future of our world.
3. What Did Jesus Christ Warn Us Would Happen Before His Return?
Now let’s turn our attention to the King James Version of the Bible.
Nearly 2,000 years ago, Jesus Christ gave His disciples remarkable teachings concerning the events that would characterize the period leading toward His return.
Matthew 24:6–8 (KJV)
“And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
All these are the beginning of sorrows.”
Notice several important details.
Jesus warned that the world would experience wars, rumors of wars, famines, diseases, earthquakes, and international conflict.
But He also gave us a very important instruction:
“See that ye be not troubled.”
Why would Jesus tell us not to be troubled?
Because He knew that these events would create fear and uncertainty among the people of the earth.
He also explained that such events would not, by themselves, mean that the end had arrived.
Therefore, when we observe governments preparing for military conflicts and national emergencies, we should recognize the relevance of Christ’s warnings without claiming to know that any specific prophetic event has begun.
The Christian response should be awareness, faith, and confidence in the promises of God—not panic.
4. Jesus Also Warned About Fear and Distress Among the Nations
There is another remarkable passage concerning the conditions that will characterize the last days.
Luke 21:25–26 (KJV)
“And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.”
Notice the expression:
“Upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity.”
The word perplexity describes a condition of confusion and uncertainty.
Does that sound familiar when we consider the international tensions that exist today?
Nations are concerned about military conflicts, cyberwarfare, economic instability, disruptions to international trade, and threats to essential infrastructure.
Jesus warned us that fear and international distress would be features of the prophetic future.
And He taught His followers to place their confidence in God.
5. Could a Future Disaster Lead to the Conditions Described in Revelation?
The book of Revelation describes an extraordinary period of judgment and suffering upon the earth.
For those who understand biblical prophecy from a premillennial, pre-Tribulation perspective, these events are associated with the future Tribulation period.
Consider what Revelation teaches about warfare, famine, and economic hardship.
Revelation 6:3–4 (KJV)
“And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see.
And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.”
This passage describes peace being taken from the earth.
Then comes another sobering warning.
Revelation 6:5–6 (KJV)
“And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.
And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.”
Many interpreters understand these verses as describing severe economic hardship and food scarcity.
Now consider what could happen if a major war disrupted international shipping, agriculture, electrical power, or fuel supplies.
Food production and distribution could be seriously affected. Essential goods could become scarce, and prices could increase dramatically.
These are plausible consequences of a major international crisis.
However, we cannot conclude that today’s emergency preparations are the opening of Revelation’s seals. Remember, the first seal has not been opened yet. What is that seal?
The First Seal is described in Revelation 6:1–2 (KJV). In a common premillennial interpretation of end-times prophecy, it represents the appearance of the Antichrist, who comes presenting himself as a man of peace but ultimately brings deception and conquest.
Revelation 6:1–2 (KJV)
1 And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.
2 And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.
I personally have been seeing the entire end times prophecy as “An entire event” which helps identify some of the timing of specific prophecies happening.
The seals are the first to occur in the 7-year Tribulation Period, and they happen in the order which they are given. When we see seal two and three begin to develop, we know that seal number one is getting closer to happening.
Revelation describes specific prophetic judgments, and the Bible does not identify the Pentagon’s FORTRESS America initiative or modern government preparedness programs as their fulfillment.
Still, the passages remind us that earthly systems are not guaranteed to remain stable forever.
6. The Bible Teaches Us to Prepare Wisely
Some Christians might ask:
“If we trust Jesus Christ, should we really concern ourselves with storing food, water, and other necessities?”
I believe the Bible provides a very reasonable answer.
Proverbs 22:3 (KJV)
“A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.”
There are many of us who believe that the rapture is VERY CLOSE to occurring. However, I too feel that it is prudent for us to live our lives in a way that we do not just disengage in caring for our families, and being prepared for whatever comes our way.
This scripture teaches the value of recognizing potential danger and responding wisely.
There is also the remarkable example of Joseph in the Old Testament.
In Genesis 41, God revealed through Pharaoh’s dreams that Egypt would experience seven years of abundance followed by seven years of famine.
Joseph responded by organizing the storage of food during the prosperous years.
Genesis 41:35–36 (KJV)
“And let them gather all the food of those good years that come, and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities.
And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through the famine.”
Joseph did not demonstrate a lack of faith by preparing.
He demonstrated wisdom.
There is an important distinction, however. Joseph received a specific revelation from God concerning an approaching famine. We have received no comparable biblical revelation identifying an imminent disaster in October 2026.
However, we DO have one very important thing… The Spirit of God! What is God telling YOU to do? Many of us feel STRONGLY that something is about to occur very soon. I personally believe that it is the rapture. However, from the second and third seal, we can see that Peace will soon be taken from the earth, as well as economic hardship.
Economic Hardship seems to be developing quickly right now. Gas and grocery prices are becoming unreasonable, and quite difficult for may people to manage.
Therefore, the principle of responsible preparation remains valuable.
Keeping reasonable emergency supplies for our families is not inconsistent with trusting the Lord.
I feel strongly in also stating this. It may be financially impossible for some to make these preparations, due to current financial hardships. It is impossible to store things up, when you are having a challenge even trying to survive financially right now, prior to any disaster. If this is your situation, this is for you.
Remember when the Israelites fled, and were in the wilderness for 40 years? Each day, God provided:
When God delivered the Israelites from slavery in Egypt, He miraculously provided food and water for them during their 40 years in the wilderness.
- Manna from Heaven: God sent bread from heaven every morning for the Israelites to gather and eat. (Exodus 16:4, 15)
- Quail for Meat: God provided quail for the people to eat. (Exodus 16:12–13)
- Water from a Rock: When the people were thirsty, God instructed Moses to strike a rock, and water flowed out. (Exodus 17:6)
How is your faith?
If we have prepared as best we can, God will provide to make up the difference! I bear witness of this.
Faith in Jesus Christ and practical preparation are not enemies.
We can do both.
7. But Jesus Warned Us Not to Place Our Trust in Earthly Possessions
While preparing wisely is sensible, Jesus also taught that earthly possessions cannot provide eternal security.
Matthew 6:19–21 (KJV)
“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
Consider the significance of this teaching.
A person might accumulate years of food, emergency generators, fuel, and other supplies. Those things may help during a temporary emergency, but if we place our entire trust in material things, there very well could be additional challenges that come that we are not prepared for.
To me, Having Faith and trust in God, is far more important than relying solely upon a generator. Again, we can prepare, but our faith must entirely be placed upon God. Are you with me on this one?
So, if you are again in a financial hardship, please get down upon your knees and ask God to direct you. He might give you some additional thought on the things that YOU CAN DO to prepare. Additionally, ask for His help in caring for your family, or the people that you are responsible for.
I also want to leave you with this…
To all of those who belong to Christ. In the even that a hardship does take place, and we do have things stored away in preparation for this event, pray to seek out others that need our help.
We can care for our families first, but we must look for those that God is sending our way to assist. You very well could be the answer to someone else’s prayers, for we all know that this is how God works.
For those of us who have supplies, those supplies are limited. But I can promise you that if God sends someone your way for assistance, He will ensure that those supplies go far enough to help all that you have been assigned to assist.
Remember Jesus feeding thousands with just a few fish and loafs of bread?
Jesus Feeds the 5,000 – Matthew 14:13–21 (KJV)
Jesus performed an incredible miracle when He fed 5,000 men, besides women and children, with only five loaves of bread and two fish. Taking the small amount of food, Jesus looked toward heaven, blessed it, broke the bread, and gave it to His disciples to distribute among the multitude. Miraculously, everyone ate until they were full, and twelve baskets of leftovers remained! This miracle demonstrated the divine power of Jesus Christ and His ability to provide abundantly for those who trust in Him.
Matthew 14:20 (KJV):
“And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.”
All of the biblical teachings that we have learned apply to our own lives and our current situation. What is required now is our faith!
When you are faced with a situation, do not pray telling God exactly what to do…Rather, pray and give that burden to God and let Him solve it in HIS WAY!!
He knows best… let Him Drive!
I feel strongly that things are about to happen, however, I want all of you to shift your emotions into something that God has asked of us…
The King James Bible teaches us that God wants His children to experience peace, comfort, hope, and assurance rather than live in constant fear and worry. Even when the world is filled with uncertainty, Jesus Christ promises peace to those who trust in Him.
Here are some beautiful KJV scriptures that God wants you to know right now. (Print these scriptures out, or highlight them in your Bible so that you will have them in the event of losing power).
1. Jesus Wants Us to Have Peace
John 14:27 (KJV)
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
Jesus specifically tells us not to allow our hearts to be troubled or afraid.
2. God Has Not Given Us a Spirit of Fear
2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
God wants us to live with faith, love, and a sound mind rather than be controlled by fear.
3. God Promises Peace Beyond Our Understanding
Philippians 4:6–7 (KJV)
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
God invites us to bring our concerns to Him through prayer and trust Him with our worries.
4. God Is the Source of Our Comfort
2 Corinthians 1:3–4 (KJV)
“Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.”
God not only comforts us during difficult times but also enables us to comfort others.
5. God Wants Us to Trust Him Instead of Worrying
Isaiah 26:3 (KJV)
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
This is one of the Bible’s most beautiful promises. Our peace comes from keeping our minds focused on God.
6. Jesus Offers Rest for Our Souls
Matthew 11:28–30 (KJV)
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
(My favorite scripture!!) Jesus invites those who are worried, overwhelmed, or burdened to come to Him for rest.
7. God Wants Our Hearts Filled With Hope
Romans 15:13 (KJV)
“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.“
Notice that God wants us to be filled with joy, peace, and hope through believing in Him.
8. Jesus Tells Us Not to Be Afraid of World Events
John 16:33 (KJV)
“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
Jesus never promised that the world would be free from trouble. Instead, He promised that we could have peace through Him even during troubling times.
9. God Wants Us to Cast Our Worries Upon Him
1 Peter 5:7 (KJV)
“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
What a wonderful promise! God cares about every concern we have.
10. God Is Our Refuge During Troubling Times
Psalm 46:1–2 (KJV)
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;”
Even when the world seems to be falling apart, believers can find security in God’s promises.
As we watch world events unfold, hear warnings about disasters, and study biblical prophecy concerning the Tribulation and the return of Jesus Christ, it is important to remember something:
God did not give us Bible prophecy so that we would spend our lives terrified of tomorrow. He gave us His Word so that we could trust Him, remain faithful, and have hope in His promises.
God’s Speed to all of you. I will continue writing as long as I am able. If power is shut down, remember, God is your source of knowledge, comfort, and protection. You don’t need me… YOU NEED HIM!!! His power will NEVER fail you.
Much love, and prayers are being sent your way.
Respectfully,
River Wilde
