As promised in End-Times prophecy, God will reveal all truth before He judges the earth:
Luke 12:2–3 (KJV)
2 “For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.
3 Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.”
Mark 4:22 (KJV)
“For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.”
Ecclesiastes 12:14 (KJV)
“For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.”
This time is now, as evident with all of the deception from those things which have been “hidden” from us, now coming into the light. Today, I’d like to share my findings regarding the Mormon temples on the earth today, and “shout it from the housetops”, to expose something troubling that is happening within the temple walls.
In the LDS temple endowment, the church currently teaches that temple patrons make five covenants with God—obedience, sacrifice, the gospel, chastity, and consecration—and that remaining faithful to these covenants is associated with promised blessings and divine power.
Yet historical and post-1990 transcripts of the endowment record, the character of Lucifer addressing the temple audience and warning that if they fail to “walk up to every covenant” made at the temple altars, “they will be in my power!” This deserves careful examination because the New Testament describes the relationship between a born-again believer and the power of darkness very differently.
Christ Delivers the Believer FROM the Power of Darkness
Paul writes:
Colossians 1:13–14 (KJV)
“Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:”
Notice the tense: “hath delivered us.”
For the person who is in Christ, deliverance from the power of darkness is presented as something God has accomplished through Christ—not something the believer continually purchases by perfectly keeping a collection of temple covenants.
Paul similarly writes:
Romans 8:1 (KJV)
“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”
The Gospel therefore directs the believer’s confidence toward Jesus Christ, not toward their ability to achieve flawless covenant performance.
What Happens When a Christian Sins?
This becomes particularly important because Christians still sin after coming to Christ.
John explicitly acknowledges this:
1 John 1:8 (KJV)
“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”
Yet John’s answer is not that the Christian thereby becomes Satan’s possession:
1 John 1:9 (KJV)
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
And:
1 John 2:1–2 (KJV)
“My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
And “The Father and Jesus Christ” are the propitiation for our sins…”
That is an enormous contrast.
When the believer fails, the KJV points them toward an Advocate—Jesus Christ.
It does not teach that failure to perfectly fulfill religious covenants automatically transfers that person into Satan’s power.
Salvation Is Not Maintained by Perfect Human Performance
Paul teaches:
Ephesians 2:8–9 (KJV)
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
And:
Titus 3:5 (KJV)
“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us…”
This creates an important question concerning the temple statement.
If salvation and deliverance from darkness depend upon Christ’s grace received through faith, why would failure to perfectly keep every temple covenant place someone under Satan’s power?
The New Testament certainly teaches obedience. Christians should strive to live holy lives. But obedience is the fruit of belonging to Christ, not a flawless performance by which Christians prevent Satan from obtaining ownership of them.
Christ’s Sacrifice Was Sufficient
Hebrews emphasizes the completeness of Christ’s sacrifice:
Hebrews 10:10 (KJV)
“By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”
And Jesus declared from the cross:
John 19:30 (KJV)
“…he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.”
The Christian therefore does not stand before God saying, “I perfectly fulfilled every promise I ever made.”
Our confidence is:
Jesus Christ fulfilled what we could not.
Satan Can Tempt—but Christ Claims Those Who Belong to Him
Jesus said concerning His people:
John 10:27–28 (KJV)
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”
Satan certainly tempts believers. He accuses them. He seeks to deceive them. Christians are warned to resist him.
James 4:7 (KJV)
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
But that is very different from teaching that imperfect covenant keeping automatically places a born-again Christian into Satan’s possession or dominion.
Why is Lucifer given a declaration concerning the consequences of failing those covenants?
Why does he say failure to keep “every covenant” will result in being “in my power”?
Compare that statement with Paul’s declaration:
Colossians 1:13 (KJV)
God “hath delivered us from the power of darkness.”
Those two ideas create an important theological tension that deserves careful investigation rather than exaggeration.
“Why does Lucifer, within a ceremony presented as an ordinance from God, tell temple patrons that failure to live up to every covenant will place them in his power, when the KJV teaches that those who have been redeemed through Jesus Christ have already been ‘delivered…from the power of darkness’?”
For the born-again believer, the Gospel’s message is not:
KEEP EVERY COVENANT PERFECTLY OR SATAN WILL HAVE POWER OVER YOU.
The Gospel points us instead toward Jesus Christ:
Romans 5:1 (KJV)
“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Our security ultimately rests not upon our ability to perform perfectly, but upon the finished work, grace, forgiveness, righteousness, and saving power of Jesus Christ.
Let me conclude by showing something blatantly obvious regarding the temple ceremony. Let’s examine the “Law of Consecration.” Here is the wording regarding the covenant that the participants are making through a covenant:
“…you do consecrate yourselves, your time, talents, and everything with which the Lord has blessed you, or with which he may bless you, to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints... for building up the Kingdom of God on earth and establishing Zion?”
Now, again, let’s look at the consequence of failing to keep this covenant as described in the temple ceremony:
Warning that if they fail to “walk up to every covenant” made at the temple altars, “they will be in my power!”
Now, honestly…Who has EVER been able to keep the “Law of Consecration Covenant?”
Yourself
Your Time
Talents
EVERYTHING which the Lord has blessed you
Or that which He may bless you
…GIVEN to the CHURCH?
No temple participant has given EVERYTHING to the church. They have to give some of their time towards employment, hobbies, leisure, and things outside the church.
Most people, in a given week, dedicate several hours to the church, and the majority of their time towards others things. They are NOT giving all of their time.
There are people blessed with talents, which they use outside of the church.
And EVERYTHING that God has blessed us with or will bless us with, to give it all to the church, I’d invite you to find someone that fulfills this requirement. ALL?
So given in the contexts of the temple ceremony, ALL participants can in no way live up to all of the temple convents, essentially placing them ALL under the power of satan. Is this what you are committing to? To be under satan’s power because you are not perfect?
If this is the case, do you think that all of you are under the power of satan? Believing that Satan controls you can certainly produce fear, bondage, discouragement, and vulnerability to deception, which is one reason Scripture repeatedly directs believers away from fear and toward confidence in Christ.
These temple covenants, with corresponding punishments, do not fit within the Gospel of Jesus Christ as He taught when He was on the earth, as recorded in the New Testament.
The next time that you attend the temple, I invite you to ask God to help you see the deceptive “untruths” that have been hidden in the temple ceremony. If you trust God, and have faith, He will answer your prayer, I promise, for He has answered mine.
I’d like to close this investigation by sharing two very important scriptures that I felt were written for me when I was a member of this church.
Matthew 24:24 (KJV)
“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”
There are only two religions that have a prophet on the earth today, filled with a congregation of people who feel that they are the very elect…and Both Prophets, in my opinion, are the FALSE Prophets that this scripture is warning us about.
Matthew 7:21–23 (KJV)
21 “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”
In this scripture, He was talking about the “Nicodemus” of the earth. People who were religiously awesome, yet lacked the very key element that Christ taught.
Nicodemus — The Man Everyone Would Have Assumed Was Going to Heaven
If there were ever someone whom people would have naturally assumed was already headed for heaven, Nicodemus would have been that man. He was a Pharisee, a highly religious man devoted to the law, and Jesus called him “a master of Israel” (John 3:10), indicating that he was a respected teacher of Scripture.
He believed in God, studied God’s Word, lived within a strict religious system, and even recognized that Jesus had come from God, saying, “Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God” (John 3:2, KJV). By outward religious standards, Nicodemus appeared to have everything necessary.
Yet Jesus did not tell him that his religion, knowledge, position, obedience, or good works were enough. Instead, Christ went directly to the condition of his soul: “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). Jesus then repeated it even more plainly: “Ye must be born again” (John 3:7).
Nicodemus was not yet qualified for heaven, even with all that he accomplished. He needed to be “Born Again”, as Jesus told him.
Nicodemus therefore provides a powerful warning that being deeply religious is not the same as being spiritually reborn. A person may know Scripture, attend religious services, hold respected religious positions, and sincerely believe in God—and still need the new spiritual life that comes through Jesus Christ.
The defining difference is weather a person has been “Born Again” or not. It is NOT Baptism and the conformation of the Holy Spirit as the church teaches. Herein lies the greatest deception of the Mormon church. The only necessary commandment to ensure that a person goes to heaven, and the church does not even teach you how to do this correctly. This sounds like the perfect plan for the adversary to deceive the very elect, and it has indeed been successful!
Jesus taught how to become born again beautifully in the New Testament. Have YOU been born again as Jesus Taught? It ALL COMES DOWN to answering this question, for if you have not, you will be greeted by the Savior with the words:
“…I never knew you: depart from me!”
Time is running out, and you are NOT prepared to be rescued in the Rapture, unless you have been Born Again!
But the choice is yours. Perhaps you would like to remain on earth for the Final Seven Years, known as the tribulation period, where God pours out His wrath. I’m certain that you are fimilure with this scripture:
Matthew 24:21–22 (KJV)
21 “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.”
This sounds like a terrible time… I’m certain that your false prophet will guide you through. Hasn’t he been so helpful teaching you about the end times prophecies that are recorded in the Bible?!?! God’s revelations to real prophets warning us of all that is to come in the next seven years, so that we would KNOW what to do to be rescued from the wrath that’s coming.
