There comes a time in many young people’s lives when they begin asking questions that really matter.
Why am I here?
Does God know me?
How can I know if I’m going to heaven?
Is following Christ difficult?
The wonderful news is that Jesus never intended coming to Him to be complicated. Throughout His ministry, He invited ordinary people—fishermen, tax collectors, children, sinners, and people with broken lives—to simply come to Him.
He still does today.
Jesus Said, “Come.”
One of the most comforting invitations in the entire Bible is found in Matthew:
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
—Matthew 11:28 (KJV)
Notice what Jesus did not say.
He didn’t say:
“Get your life perfect first.”
“Become religious first.”
“Earn My love.”
“Prove yourself worthy.”
He simply said,
“Come unto me.”
That invitation is still open today.
God Loves You More Than You Can Imagine
The most famous verse in the Bible tells us why Jesus came.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
—John 3:16 (KJV)
Notice the word “whosoever.”
That means anyone.
It doesn’t matter what mistakes you’ve made.
It doesn’t matter if you’ve never been to church.
It doesn’t matter whether your family believes or not.
God’s invitation is for you.
What Does It Mean to Believe?
Believing is much more than knowing Jesus existed.
It means trusting Him.
Imagine standing on the edge of a river. Someone offers to carry you safely across. Believing isn’t just agreeing they can do it—it is trusting them enough to step into their arms.
That is what faith in Christ looks like.
You trust that Jesus did everything necessary to save you through His death, burial, and resurrection.
Salvation Is a Gift
Many people think they must earn heaven by doing enough good things.
But the Bible teaches something very different.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
—Ephesians 2:8–9 (KJV)
A gift cannot be earned.
It can only be received.
That is exactly how God offers salvation.
You Must Be Born Again
Jesus spoke these words to a very religious man named Nicodemus.
“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
—John 3:3 (KJV)
Being born again is not joining a church.
It is not becoming more religious.
It is the moment you place your faith in Jesus Christ and God gives you new spiritual life.
Jesus Did the Hard Part
When Jesus died on the cross, He paid for your sins.
Then He declared,
“It is finished.”
—John 19:30 (KJV)
Your salvation was not left unfinished.
Jesus completed the work.
Now He simply invites you to trust Him.
What Happens After You Believe?
Following Jesus is not about trying to earn His love.
It is about learning to know the One who already loves you.
You’ll begin reading His Word in the New Testament.
You’ll pray.
You’ll grow.
You’ll make mistakes.
But God doesn’t abandon His children.
As you grow closer to Christ, your life begins to change because His Spirit lives within you.
How Can You Come to Christ Today?
The Bible says,
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
—Romans 10:9 (KJV)
And only a few verses later,
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
—Romans 10:13 (KJV)
Coming to Christ is not about saying perfect words.
It is about sincerely placing your trust in Him.
You might pray something like this:
“Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I believe You died for my sins and rose again. I place my trust in You alone to save me. Thank You for Your grace and for giving me eternal life. Help me to know You and follow You. Amen.”
The prayer itself does not save you.
Jesus saves.
Faith in Him is what brings you into a relationship with God.
Your Journey Begins Here
If you’ve come to Christ, remember this:
Christianity is not simply following rules.
It is walking each day with the Savior who loved you enough to give His life for you.
Read the Bible.
Talk to God every day.
Ask questions.
Learn who Jesus is through His own words.
As you grow, you’ll discover something beautiful:
The Christian life is not about becoming good enough for Jesus.
It is about knowing the One who is already good enough for you.
“These things have I spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace.”
—John 16:33 (KJV)
And Jesus gives one final invitation that still echoes today:
“Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.”
—John 6:37 (KJV)
If you come to Him by faith, He will never turn you away.
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
— Matthew 11:28–30 (KJV)
This is one of the most comforting invitations Jesus ever gave. A yoke was a wooden beam placed upon oxen so they could work together. Jesus uses it as a picture of walking with Him. He is not calling us to a life of religious burdens or impossible requirements, but to a relationship with Himself.
When Jesus says, “my yoke is easy, and my burden is light,” He contrasts His gospel with the heavy burdens of legalism and man-made religious requirements (see Matthew 23:4). Salvation is by God’s grace through faith, and as we abide in Christ, He carries what we could never carry on our own. He promises rest—not merely physical rest, but rest for the soul.
I invite all of you to come to Christ, and receive this spiritual rebirth by inviting Him into your life right now. There is so much peace there.
