The Time Has Come for All to Answer This Question – Do You Follow a Religion, or Do You Follow Jesus Christ? (KJV)

(The views expressed here are my personal beliefs, shaped by extensive study of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as recorded in the Bible. I have prayerfully sought God’s guidance throughout my research to remain focused on truth. I do not speak on behalf of any religious organization.)

Throughout history, mankind has searched for God through religions, traditions, institutions, ceremonies, leaders, and movements. Yet according to the King James Bible, one of the greatest dangers of the last days would be that people would slowly replace the simple gospel of Jesus Christ with something else.

Instead of fully trusting in Christ Himself, many would place their faith in systems, personalities, worldly influence, or religious authority. The tragedy is that these things often appear righteous outwardly, while quietly drawing the attention and glory away from Jesus Christ.

The warnings of Scripture are striking. Jesus Himself repeatedly warned about deception in the last days more than almost any other sign. In Matthew 24:4-5 (KJV), He declared,

“Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.”

Notice carefully—the deception would come “in His name.” The danger would not always come through obvious evil, but through counterfeit forms of religion that use the language of God while slowly redirecting people’s trust toward men, organizations, or earthly power.

Over time, religion itself can become a system of control rather than a pathway to Christ.

Let me strongly state that again…

Over time, religion itself can become a system of control rather than a pathway to Christ.

Now, as I look back towards my experience in a high demand religion, I see the CONTROL that was used, which created dependence upon the church and NOT Jesus Christ:

Authority Structure — Members are taught that church leaders, especially the prophet and apostles, speak with divine authority. This can create strong pressure to obey leadership without questioning. Members are taught to “only listen to them,” and not seek spiritual understanding outside of their approved writings.

Worthiness Interviews — Private interviews with church leaders often involve questions about personal behavior, sexuality, tithing, and belief. Critics say this can create guilt, fear, and dependence on church approval. This again takes glory away from Jesus Christ, as it places the church between a person and Jesus Christ in seeking forgiveness. A church has NOTHING to do with the repentance process. Forgiveness is not for the church to give, that belongs entirely up to Jesus Christ.

Temple Recommend Requirements — Access to temples is tied to obedience, including paying a full tithe DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH, sustaining leaders, and following church standards. Some former members feel this connects spiritual acceptance to institutional compliance. As I learned personally, It is not just fulfilling the “commandment” of tithing to demonstrate your “worthiness” that tithing must be paid directly to the church to COUNT.

Social and Family Pressure — In heavily LDS communities, church participation can affect family relationships, friendships, reputation, and even employment opportunities. Leaving the church may lead to isolation or strained relationships. People leaving the church are often shunned many times, demonstrating the control that the church has exerted over its members.

Control of Information — Critics argue that difficult historical topics were sometimes minimized or discouraged from open discussion in the past. Members are told NOT to use tools such as A.I. for spiritual study. To me, it is VERY CLEAR why this directive has been given, because when using AI, you can flush out the false teachings of the church in a matter of minutes, with strong KJV scripture teachings of the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Guilt and Fear-Based Messaging — Teachings about worthiness, eternal families, obedience, and the dangers of “falling away” can deeply affect emotions and decision-making for some individuals. Spending a lifetime fearing my religion, and the continual questioning of if I was “good enough” should have been an early indication that something was not right with this religion. The Gospel of Jesus Christ as taught in the bible is NOT Fear-Based what so ever.

Traditions can become more important than truth. Ceremonies can become more important than salvation. Church loyalty can become more important than personal faith in Jesus Christ.

In Mark 7:7-8 (KJV), Jesus warned about this very thing when He said,

“Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.”

The Pharisees appeared outwardly religious, yet many completely missed the very Messiah standing before them because they trusted their religious structure more than the Word of God. Can you imagine this? I guess that it should not be a surprise for us that many people trust in a false religion over the obvious truth of the gospel taught in the Bible, when the same occurred when people were deceived when Jesus was actually upon the earth in person.

The Bible teaches that the last days will be marked by increasing spiritual confusion. Second Timothy 3 describes people having:

a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof.

Outward religion will still exist. Churches will still exist. Spiritual language will still exist. But much of it may lack the true transforming power of the gospel itself. Many people will seek motivational personalities, emotional experiences, political movements, prosperity, or worldly acceptance rather than repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.

The world is increasingly drawn toward powerful personalities. Many people today place nearly blind trust in political leaders, celebrities, influencers, religious authorities, or charismatic teachers. Yet Scripture warns that mankind has always had a tendency to desire visible human leadership over humble dependence upon God.

The coming of the Antichrist itself will reflect this desire perfectly—a world leader who promises solutions, peace, unity, security, and power. Revelation teaches that much of the world will marvel after him because mankind naturally longs for a visible savior while rejecting the true Savior, Jesus Christ.

The danger is subtle because worldly power often appears successful. Large crowds, wealth, influence, fame, and authority can easily make something appear blessed by God. Yet Jesus consistently taught the opposite. He came humbly. He preached repentance. He warned about riches, pride, and hypocrisy.

He taught that salvation was not found in outward appearance, but through a changed heart and faith in Him. The simple gospel is offensive to worldly systems because it leaves no room for human glory. Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV) declares,

“For by grace are ye saved through faith… not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Perhaps this is why the simple gospel becomes so easily buried beneath religion. Human nature craves systems where men can claim authority, recognition, or spiritual superiority. But the New Testament continually points believers back to Christ alone.

The apostles did not spend their lives building earthly empires. They preached Jesus Christ crucified, risen again, and coming again. Their message was not “follow us,” but “follow Him.

Isn’t this revealing? Church leaders are still saying the same thing…”Follow Us”… “Believe Us”… “Trust Us”…When the message should be quite the opposite… Follow Christ! Believe Christ, Trust Christ!

The final days described in Scripture will likely be marked by tremendous religious deception—a merging of spirituality, worldly power, false peace, and global influence. Many will follow what feels safe, popular, unified, and accepted by the world. But the true gospel has never depended upon popularity. Jesus said in Matthew 7:13-14 (KJV) that broad is the way that leads to destruction, while narrow is the way that leads unto life.

Yet even amid increasing deception, the message of hope remains unchanged. God is still calling people directly to His Son.

I am personally encouraged as I see many friends and others discovering the deception of the church that I was involved in. Those with a “Thirst for Truth” and finding the true Gospel of Jesus Christ as He taught when He was on the earth.

This end times prophecy is being fulfilled at this very moment:

“For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.”
— Luke 12:2 (KJV)

God is exposing the False Teachings of religious institutions, as well as all things that have been hidden through deception. Before He will judge the earth, the full truth must be revealed for Him to do so.

So, where are you in this process? Do you have eyes to see the truth, or are you letting pride get in the way of admitting that you have been deceived?

Salvation is not found in belonging to the right institution, impressing religious leaders, or trusting human systems. It is found in Jesus Christ alone. The simplicity of the gospel remains as powerful today as it was 2,000 years ago: Christ died for sinners, was buried, rose again, and offers eternal life freely to those who place their faith in Him.

In the end, the greatest question of the last days may not simply be whether people believe in religion—but whether they truly know Jesus Christ Himself.

Matthew 7:21–23 (KJV):

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

It is my sincere prayer that all of us will be recognized by Jesus Christ, and will not be a “stranger “ to Him. Remember, when we leave this earth, your church will be long gone! We will be under the leadership of Jesus Christ, and our relationship will be directly with Him… As It Should Be Right Now.
