To begin, I must declare that no checklist can save a person or perfectly measure the heart—only God truly knows the heart:

The LORD looketh on the heart.”1 Samuel 16:7 (KJV)

But Scripture does encourage self-examination:

“Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith…”2 Corinthians 13:5 (KJV)

Many believe that the rapture is imminent, and they begin to wonder, will I be included? Will God rescue me from the 7-year Tribulation Period, or will I have to endure the upcoming hardships?

What do you think is required to make the list of who will be rescued in the rapture? Is your list long? Does it require tasks that have been assigned to you from your church? Is it based upon the tithing that you pay, or good works that you have done throughout your life?

If this is your thinking, no wonder you are confused about if you will be raptured or not. Do you realize that the only requirement to being included in the rapture is to have been “Born Again” as taught in the scriptures. Not just a simple prayer, but a transformation as taught.

With that in mind, here is a 10-question spiritual self-examination based on KJV Scripture.

How to understand your answers

This is not a pass/fail salvation exam. It is a mirror for honest reflection.

If many answers are Yes, that reflects evidence of spiritual life, and a “Rebirth.”

If many answers are No or Unsure, Scripture’s invitation is still open:

“Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.”John 6:37 (KJV)

The focus is not on becoming perfect—it is on coming to Christ, trusting Him, and walking with Him.

John 3:7 (KJV)

“Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.”

Jesus spoke these words to Nicodemus, a religious leader who understood outward religion, but did not yet understand spiritual rebirth. Christ was teaching that entering the kingdom of God is not about religious membership, heritage, or good works—it is about receiving new life from God through faith.

The phrase “born again” speaks of an inward transformation brought by the Holy Spirit—a changed heart, new spiritual life, and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

This is why Scripture also says:

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)

So, How does a person begin the process of being “Born Again?”

Being “born again” is not joining a church, performing rituals, or becoming religious outwardly—it is a spiritual work of God in your heart, where a person is made spiritually alive through faith in Jesus Christ.

Jesus said plainly:

“Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.”
—John 3:7 (KJV)

Here is how the KJV teaches a person begins that process:

1) Come to God honestly — recognizing your need for a Savior in Your Life

The new birth begins when a person realizes they are a sinner in need of salvation. Because they are mortal, they sin, and realize that they are imperfect and can not make it into the presence of God by THEMSELVES. They must accept Jesus Christ into their lives, knowing that He is the ONLY way that we can be forgiven of our sins.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
—Romans 3:23 (KJV)

This is humility before God—coming as you are, without pretending righteousness. He knows that we are a sinner, we must also know that as well. We NEED Jesus Christ!!!!

2) Believe on Jesus Christ

The heart of being born again is placing your trust in Jesus Christ—His death, burial, and resurrection—for your salvation.

“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved…”
—Acts 16:31 (KJV)

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
—Romans 10:9 (KJV)

Not merely believing about Jesus—but trusting in Him.

3) Repent — turn your heart toward God

Repentance is an inward turning—a change of mind that leads you away from sin and toward God.

“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out…”
—Acts 3:19 (KJV)

This is not perfection overnight, but surrender—saying, “Lord, I want Your way, not mine.” This repentance should be continual throughout your life, for we are not able to achieve perfection in this life, and constantly need to repent for our short comings.

4) Call upon Him sincerely

Cry out to God personally. Speak honestly to Him.

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
—Romans 10:13 (KJV)

This is where it starts: A prayer can be simple. A conversation just between you and God. There are no exact words that need to be said, just understand this prayer through an example listed below:

“Lord Jesus Christ, I know I am a sinner. I believe You died for me and rose again. I place my trust in You. Forgive me, save me, and make me new.”

The words are not magic—the faith behind them matters. You are giving your life to Jesus Christ, and inviting Him into your very being. It is no longer just YOU trying to navigate throughout life, it is You and Jesus Christ together to take on any and all challenges that you will encounter.

5) Receive the new life God gives

When a person truly believes, God begins a new work in them.

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
—2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)

This new birth often begins inwardly:

  • a new hunger for truth
  • conviction over sin
  • love for Christ
  • desire for righteousness
  • growing love for others
  • spiritual understanding of Scripture

6) Continue abiding in Christ

Being born again is the beginning, not the finish line.

“As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:”
—1 Peter 2:2 (KJV)

Read His Word. Pray. Walk with Him daily.

Jesus explained the source:

“Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God… That which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”
—John 3:5–6 (KJV)

The new birth is God’s Spirit bringing life to your spirit through faith in Christ.

When Does this Transformation Happen? – IMPORTANT

According to the King James Version, the new birth—being “born again”—is not described as a slow religious process, but as a spiritual birth that happens the moment a person truly believes on Jesus Christ from the heart. At that moment, God performs a work that no church, ordinance, or human effort can accomplish.

Jesus said:

“Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.”
John 3:7 (KJV)

Here is what Scripture teaches happens immediately when a person is truly born again:

1) They are given New Life

Before salvation, a person is spiritually dead in sin. The moment they believe, God makes them spiritually alive.

“And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;”
Ephesians 2:1 (KJV)

“Quickened” means made alive.

2) They receive the Holy Ghost

God’s Spirit comes to dwell within them permanently.

“…after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,”
Ephesians 1:13 (KJV)

“Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”
1 Corinthians 3:16 (KJV)

This is one of the greatest gifts of the new birth—God Himself dwelling within the believer.

3) They are Sealed unto Redemption

The believer is spiritually marked as belonging to God.

“And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.”
Ephesians 4:30 (KJV)

This seal is God’s promise that He will finish what He started.

4) They become a New Creature

Their inward man is changed.

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)

This does not mean instant perfection—but it does mean a new heart, new desires, and a new spiritual nature.

5) They are Adopted as Sons and Daughters of God

They become part of God’s family immediately.

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”
John 1:12 (KJV)

God becomes their Father in a real spiritual sense.

6) They receive Eternal Life

Not someday—immediately.

“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life…”
John 3:36 (KJV)

“Hath” means possesses now.

7) Their sins are Forgiven

Completely through Christ’s blood.

“In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:”
Colossians 1:14 (KJV)

Past sins, present sins, future sins—Christ’s payment is complete.

8) They are given Peace with God

The war between sinful man and holy God is over because of Christ.

“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:”
Romans 5:1 (KJV)

9) They receive an Inner Witness

The Spirit confirms inside them that they belong to God.

“The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:”
Romans 8:16 (KJV)

Many believers describe this as a deep inward knowing, conviction, and new love for Christ.

Are you seeing God’s teaching here? If you are NOT Born Again, you can be RIGHT NOW, IMMEDIATELY, at this very moment by doing what is mentioned in this writing. Your commitment to Jesus Christ must be genuine, not just words.

In short—what is given immediately?

When someone is truly born again, God gives them:

✔ New spiritual life
✔ The Holy Ghost dwelling within
✔ A seal unto redemption
✔ Forgiveness of sins
✔ Eternal life
✔ Adoption into God’s family
✔ A new spiritual nature
✔ Peace with God
✔ Spiritual understanding
✔ The inner witness of the Spirit

An invitation to be rescued during the Rapture

This is why salvation in Scripture is called a birth—birth happens in a moment. Growth comes afterward, but birth itself is immediate.

“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God…”
1 Peter 1:23 (KJV)

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is all about HIM, not a religion or church. It is powerful and simple, but requires Him becoming a part of your life. This is what He expects of us. This is what is required of us while we are on this earth…And This is what we need to do to be with Him in heaven for eternity.

You should have NO FEAR for the coming days…NONE. If you belong to Jesus Christ, He will rescue you in the Rapture, and will then be with you throughout eternity in a new heaven and earth that He will create.

So, what are you waiting for? If you do not belong to Jesus Christ yet, do so RIGHT NOW. There is so much peace in Jesus Christ.

Can I get an AMEN?!?!
