(The views expressed here are my personal beliefs, shaped by extensive study of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as recorded in the Bible. I have prayerfully sought God’s guidance throughout my research to remain focused on truth. I do not speak on behalf of any religious organization.)
A perfect marriage
There are many people on earth who have had a very strong and wonderful relationship with a partner while here on earth. Was it perfect? At times it might have seemed so. Couples have committed to one another, and have developed a special bond between them. Marriage is a deep meaningful relationship that took sacrifice, and it produced one of the most important relationships that we had on earth.
Some other people might have had circumstances which prevented such a deep relationship from occurring, BUT, that desire remains…to have a perfect relationship; one where you feel seen and heard. A relationship that makes you want to give all that you have because you are given so MUCH from the other partner.
Regardless of your relationships here on earth, all of us crave a perfect, intimate relationship with someone…SOMEDAY, in addition to the wonderful relations that we already have.
I do not want to take away from the marriage relationships that we have on earth which are awesome. Today, I’m just trying to teach about relationships in heaven, which have nothing to do with a temple ordinance. As we have learned, temples were no longer necessary after the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Learning this is VERY disappointing to some people, for this was always such a strong belief that they had. There is not a temple ceremony that binds people as husband and wife in heaven, because in all reality, God’s plan is not set up that way.
Understanding how God’s plan works for all of us in heaven is not stepping backwards. Understanding the teachings of Christ as recorded in the Bible are indeed something that you will look VERY forward to. A HUGE step Forward!!!!!!!
If you were taught that you would be married in heaven, your “spouse” will still be right there with you, just NOT in a role that was specifically designed for mortality. Understanding this is of utmost importance as you begin to learn the TRUE teachings of the Savior.
Other earthly “titles” such as brother and sister, aunt and uncle, and grandparents are all very important positions here on earth, as they all help a FAMILY navigate through this mortal life.
After Mortality, those titles are no longer necessary, for we will be entering into a different state of our eternal progression. HOWEVER, only the titles change, and not the deep love or close association that we have here on earth.
This very close and dear relationship of marriage and family is ever present. All sacrifices which strengthened the relationship are still there. We will still be close…very close, even though we are not husband and wife.
Our days of procreation are completed. We will not be creating new spirits to send to a new world. Intimacy, as we know it here on earth, will change into something FAR BEYOND our most desirable dreams.
But before we go any further, I feel it’s important to recognize something deeply comforting—that the beauty and closeness of the relationships we’ve experienced here on earth will not be lost. Instead, they will continue and be made even better.
We will be made whole, with perfected bodies and minds—free from sickness, disability, and every imperfection—yet still fully ourselves. And in that restored state, we will be surrounded by our families and those we love. This is part of God’s plan, not something dependent on a sealing performed in a church temple, but something He Himself brings to pass.
Now, let me begin to teach you about a PERFECT relationship that all of us will have in heaven. The Perfect relationship that everyone has desired in their lifetime. This will be our Relationship with Jesus Christ.
What every heart has longed for in a relationship on this earth—complete understanding, unwavering love, total acceptance—will finally be fulfilled in Jesus Christ. The connection we try to find in others, yet never fully reach, becomes perfect in Him. As it says in 1 Corinthians 13:12,
“then shall I know even as also I am known.”
In His presence, there is no misunderstanding, no insecurity, no wondering where you stand. You are fully known, fully seen, and completely loved—without fear of rejection or loss.
This relationship is the nearness and closeness people spend a lifetime searching for here on earth. But in heaven, no distance, no emotional barriers, no broken communication—only constant, personal presence with Christ. Jesus promised in John 14:3,
“that where I am, there ye may be also,”
…and Revelation 21:3 declares that God will dwell with His people. This means an unbroken companionship—always with Him, always near Him. The deepest desire to simply “be with” someone who loves you perfectly is finally and forever satisfied.
And unlike every earthly relationship, this one can never be damaged, strained, or taken away. There is no fear of abandonment, no fading love, no pain—only perfect peace and security. As written in 1 Thessalonians 4:17,
“…so shall we ever be with the Lord.”
This is the relationship the soul has always been reaching for—not just love, but perfect love; not just connection, but complete union; not just moments together, but an eternal, unbreakable bond with Jesus Christ that fulfills every longing of the human heart.
“But, there will be billions of people in Heaven. How can my relationship with Jesus Christ be what you are describing?”
The relationship you will have with Jesus Christ will not feel like being one among billions—it will be deeply personal, as if His love and attention are fully set upon you. Even now, Scripture reveals this truth:
He knows each individual completely and intimately. Jesus said in John 10:3, “he calleth his own sheep by name.” That means you are not just part of a crowd to Him—
He knows your name, your story, your heart. In heaven, that personal knowing is no longer hindered. It becomes a face-to-face relationship where nothing is shared or divided—His love toward you is full, direct, and undiminished. This is the POWER and the ABILITY that the Savior has.
This is because Christ’s ability to love is not limited like ours. On earth, attention gets divided, relationships compete, and people feel overlooked—but with Jesus, that never happens. His presence is fully given to each believer without taking away from another. As 1 Corinthians 13:12 says,
“then shall I know even as also I am known.”
You will experience being completely known by Him, not in a distant or general way, but in a way that feels entirely your own. It will not feel shared or diluted—it will feel as though you are personally His, and He is personally yours.
And this personal bond is eternal and unbreakable. It is not just that you will be among His followers—you will be with Him, individually and continually. Galatians 2:20 says,
“the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
Notice how personal that is—me. That same truth carries into eternity. Not just near Him—but with Him, in a relationship that is personal, individual, and perfectly fulfilling—exactly as your heart has always longed for.
In our “mortal minds” we think of living with those we love, in the same mortal structure and living happily ever after in heaven. I get it…this is how our mortal minds think.
In reality, God promises us something far BEYOND what our mortal minds have created. Yes, we will be surrounded by all of those that we love, family and friends. Yes, our “relationships” that we have worked so hard at will be intact.
Even the strongest relationship we experience with Jesus Christ in this life is only a beginning—real, powerful, and life-changing, but still limited by our human weakness, distractions, and imperfect understanding.
On earth, we walk by faith, not by sight, and there are moments of closeness mixed with moments of distance. But in heaven, that relationship with Jesus Christ is transformed into something far greater—clear, constant, and complete. Every barrier is removed. No more doubt, no more struggling to feel near to Him—only a fully realized, uninterrupted relationship where you are in His presence, experiencing Him directly.
What you have with Him now, as beautiful as it may be, is just a glimpse of what is coming. In heaven, your connection with Christ will be deeper than anything possible on earth—more intimate, more alive, more fulfilling than any relationship you’ve ever known.
That means nothing will cloud your understanding or limit your experience of Him. And as Revelation 21:3 declares,
“the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them.”
This is not just an improved version of what we have now—it is the full, perfected relationship your soul was created for, where every longing to know Him, to be near Him, and to love Him is completely and eternally fulfilled.
Over the past three years, as I’ve studied the gospel of Jesus Christ as He taught it, I’ve come to see a consistent pattern—the adversary always seeks to redirect even a small portion of the glory that belongs to Jesus Christ. One way this happens is through subtle, deceptive teachings that have found their way into some church doctrines.
The idea of a temple sealing, where a couple is promised marriage in heaven, sounds beautiful—almost too beautiful. It paints a picture of a perfect, fairy-tale relationship with our spouse, and naturally, our focus is drawn there. But we need to pause and look deeper.
God’s plan does include being with those we love. That part is real and deeply comforting. But the kind of perfect, all-fulfilling relationship we often imagine having with a spouse is not the ultimate promise. That kind of completeness, that depth of connection and fulfillment, is found in Jesus Christ.
This isn’t about a fairy-tale ending centered on a spouse. It’s about something far greater—a perfect, eternal relationship with Jesus Christ Himself. He alone has the power to give us more than we can even begin to imagine. That is the relationship we should be preparing our hearts for, seeking to understand more deeply, and looking forward to with true anticipation.
Let me say this with humility, love, and genuine concern: truth is not shaped by what we believe—there is one truth and one reality.
If you feel a sense of disappointment about not being sealed to your spouse in heaven, I invite you to look more deeply into the relationship you will have with Jesus Christ. That is the perfect relationship your heart has always been searching for.
Your spouse will still be there. That doesn’t change. You will both be made whole—free from depression, anxiety, sickness, and every burden—and because of that, your relationship will be better than anything you’ve experienced here.
But beyond even that, there is something greater—a deeply personal, perfect, and glorious connection with Jesus Christ that fulfills in a way nothing else can.
That is where the true glory belongs: with Jesus Christ—not in a narrative that centers eternity on a glorified version of marriage, but in the fullness of what He alone can give.
Take this information to God in prayer. Ask for His help in understanding His plan in Heaven. When He confirms these things that you are studying, you will see the “brilliance” in His plan. You will begin looking at heaven in an entirely different light, with excitement uncontained.
Heaven is NOT temple work forever, for there will be no temples there. Heaven is a “Forever” surrounded by those that we love, all having this incredible relationship with Jesus Christ.
Heaven is not just a place of beauty, but a living, breathing relationship—where every moment is filled with the nearness of Jesus Christ, not distant or symbolic, but personal and real beyond anything we’ve ever known; it is waking into a peace that never fades, standing in a light that feels like home, and being fully known and fully loved at the same time, where every question is quieted not by answers alone but by His presence, and every longing you’ve ever carried is fulfilled simply by being with Him—walking, talking, laughing, and resting in a bond so deep and pure that it makes every earthly relationship feel like a shadow of what was always meant to be.
I am FOREVER grateful for the teachings of the Savior. And, although I was initially disappointed in learning the deceptive church teachings throughout my life, I have so much more now, as I have come to know the truth about His gospel.
Gospel of John 8:32 in the KJV:
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
