Have You Been Deceived? Here is the Gospel of Jesus Christ as Taught in the KJV of the Bible – Just for FUN, See if This is What Your Church Teaches

Many people in my life are firmly convinced that they are on the correct path, and they believe the same gospel of Jesus Christ as He taught when He was on the earth. They believe this because many of them have no idea what that gospel, as recorded in the Bible really contains. They ASSUME that it is the same teachings as they are being taught through their church.

Let me share the Gospel of Jesus Christ as HE and His apostles taught, and you can reach your own conclusions.

Let’s first define where Christ’s gospel is contained, by understanding this scripture:

Galatians 1:8–9

“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.”

This verse emphasizes that the Gospel delivered by the apostles is not to be altered or added to. I’m certain that this scripture is new to most of you. It deserves a closer look.

The Apostle Paul was teaching this to the churches in Galatia. After he taught which is what I am about to share with you, he stated that “we” (the apostles) or even an angel from heaven can not teach you anything other than what we are sharing. EVEN AN ANGEL!

This is so very important, because it eliminates any further doctrine. It CONFINES our learning material of what the Gospel of Jesus Christ actually is, and eliminates any other teaching that goes AGAINST what they have taught us as recorded in the bible.

With this perimeter now set, let’s learn the Gospel as recorded in the KJV of the Bible.

1. Who Jesus Christ Is

The Gospel begins with who Jesus is.

  • He is God manifest in the flesh

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us…” — John 1:14
“And the Word was God.” — John 1:1

  • He is the only begotten Son of God

John 3:16

  • He is sinless

Hebrews 4:15

Jesus is not merely a teacher — He is the eternal Son of God who came into the world to save sinners. His purpose in coming to the earth was to teach us His Gospel, as well as atone for the sins of the world.

2. The Problem: Sin

The Gospel makes no sense unless we understand the problem.

  • All have sinned

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” — Romans 3:23

  • Sin brings death

“For the wages of sin is death…” — Romans 6:23

Sin is not just bad behavior — it is rebellion against God. The result is spiritual death and separation from Him. Because of our sins, we were destined to be separated from God, so this is why Jesus Christ was sent to the earth. He accepted all of the sins of the world through an event known as the atonement.

3. The Garden of Gethsemani: He Accepted our Sins

In the Garden of Gethsemane, on the night before His crucifixion, Jesus withdrew with His disciples to pray, fully aware of the suffering that awaited Him.

(Matthew 26:36–46; Luke 22:39–44),

His soul was “exceeding sorrowful, even unto death,” and He fell on His face, praying, “O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.”

In Gethsemane we see both the true humanity and perfect obedience of Christ — He felt the weight of the sin He was about to bear, yet He willingly submitted to the Father’s will.

His purpose there was surrender: to accept the cup of suffering, to prepare to become the sin-bearer for the world, and to demonstrate complete submission so that redemption could be accomplished at the cross.

4. The Cross: Christ Died for Us

This is the heart of the Gospel.

  • Christ died for sinners

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8

  • He bore our sins through the atonement

“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree…” — 1 Peter 2:24

  • His blood brings redemption

Ephesians 1:7

Jesus took the punishment we deserved. The justice of God was satisfied at the cross. This completes the atonement. A sinless person sacrificed Himself so that we all could be forgiven of our sins. This action is for all mankind, however it must be accepted individually, for with our free agency, it is not forced upon anyone.

5. The Resurrection

The Gospel is not complete without the resurrection.

  • Christ rose again the third day

1 Corinthians 15:3–4

  • The resurrection proves victory over death.

1 Corinthians 15:55–57

If Christ had not risen, our faith would be vain (1 Corinthians 15:17). Through His personal example, we have been shown that we too can ALL be resurrected and “live again.” We are reunited with our bodies, yet in a perfect form, to live forever.

6. Salvation Is by Grace Through Faith (Not Works)

This is one of the most important truths in the New Testament, and where many other religions misunderstand the gospel.

  • “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.” — Ephesians 2:8–9
  • “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God…” — Romans 5:1

Salvation is:

  • Not earned
  • Not deserved
  • Not maintained by human effort
  • A gift received by faith

We do not earn our way into “heaven” because of our good works. It is not earned through church attendance, paying tithing, or through church rituals. It is a GIFT from Jesus Christ. We MUST accept His gift, by inviting Him into our life, and becoming “Born Again.”

7. Repentance

Repentance means a change of mind and heart toward God.

  • “Repent ye therefore, and be converted…” — Acts 3:19
  • God grants repentance (2 Timothy 2:25)

True repentance accompanies genuine faith. Repentance demonstrates that we recognize that we are a sinner, and that as we repent for our sins, it is ONLY BECAUSE of His sacrifice that we are forgiven of our sins.

8. New Birth (Being Born Again)

Jesus taught:

“Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” — John 3:3

Salvation is not just reform — it is regeneration. The Holy Spirit gives new life. According to the KJV, you do not “make yourself” born again — God does the regenerating. But Scripture clearly shows how a person receives that new rebirth.

Here is the biblical pattern:

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ

“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” — Acts 16:31

To believe means to trust — not just agree intellectually, but rely fully on Christ’s death and resurrection as your only hope before God.

Repent

“Repent ye therefore, and be converted…” — Acts 3:19

Repentance is a change of heart toward God — turning from trusting yourself (or religion, or works) and turning to Christ.

Confess Christ

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” — Romans 10:9

Confession flows from genuine faith. It is not magic words — it is an outward expression of inward belief.

 Receive Him

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” — John 1:12

You receive Christ by faith — trusting Him personally.

When you believe, God forgives your sins. You are justified (declared righteous). The Holy Spirit gives you new life. You are spiritually “born again.”

It is not about performing. It is not about joining an institution. It is not about cleaning yourself up first. It is about trusting Christ completely.

9. Assurance of Salvation

The KJV teaches strong assurance for believers.

  • “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus…” — Romans 8:1
  • “And they shall never perish…” — John 10:28

Salvation rests on Christ’s finished work, not human perfection.

10. The Return of Christ

The Gospel includes hope.

  • “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven…” — 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17
  • Jesus will judge the world (Acts 17:31)

Believers look forward to His appearing.

In Simple Terms

  1. You are a sinner.
  2. You cannot save yourself.
  3. Jesus Christ died for your sins.
  4. He rose again.
  5. If you trust Him alone, you are saved by grace.

Good Works

In many religions, people are taught that “Salvation is all about your Good Works”. Where does good works fit into the gospel that Jesus Christ taught?

Good works are not the root of salvation, but the fruit of it. We are saved “by grace… through faith… not of works” (Ephesians 2:8–9), meaning our works do not earn forgiveness or secure eternal life. However, the very next verse says, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works” (Ephesians 2:10).

Once a person is born again, good works naturally follow as evidence of a changed heart and the indwelling Spirit. They glorify God (Matthew 5:16), demonstrate living faith (James 2:17), and reflect Christ’s character — but they are the result of salvation, not the cause of it.

Why This Matters

If you believe that paying tithing, faithfully attending church, participating in ordinances, and performing religious duties are required in order to earn salvation or secure a higher place in heaven, then you have misunderstood the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. The KJV teaches that salvation is “by grace… through faith… not of works” (Ephesians 2:8–9). Eternal life is not achieved by religious performance, but received as a gift through trusting in the finished work of Christ alone.

When a person believes this false gospel of relying upon their own works, I personally believe that Jesus is offended. We are telling Him through our actions that “He was not enough.” He cannot fulfill the atonement without our help. His sacrifice was not enough, because it requires something more from me.

The atonement of Jesus Christ IS enough. It is COMPLETE, and all that is necessary for a person to receive salvation, and to live with Him forever in “Heaven.

After a person becomes born again, their desire to sin decreases. They want to love and serve others through their good works. They begin to live a “Christ-Like” life. This again is evidence of their new rebirth.

Now, if what I have written helps you see that you have been deceived in believing a “Different” gospel from what Christ taught when He was on the earth, what now? What is your next step forward?

That next step includes God, through your personal prayer. Ask Him to confirm the truth of His teachings to you personally. This is how truth is obtained.

Then, with your newfound desire to know the truth, set out on your own journey. Study the bible exclusively, while asking God to accompany you in your learning. Start with the atonement, for this is a very important doctrine.

Quite honestly, if you examine the teachings carefully, you may begin to see that many of the principles emphasized in your church reinforce dependence on the institution itself rather than on Jesus Christ alone. The message often communicated is that temple ordinances, institutional authority, and strict tithing to the organization are essential for reaching the highest heaven — that without the church, salvation is incomplete. I would encourage you to prayerfully consider whether that focus aligns with the simplicity of the Gospel, which teaches reliance on Christ’s finished work.

In my own experience, I was denied a temple recommend after paying a full tithe directly to a homeless shelter instead of to the church, because it was said that it did not qualify. That moment deeply affected me and led me to study what the Bible actually teaches about tithing and giving, especially in light of how Jesus addressed the subject.

I invite you to study how Jesus Christ changed the teaching of tithing from the strict rule of 10% given to the elders as taught in the Old Testament. No longer a LAW, rather, to be given out of love directly to those in need.

You will learn that as the apostles traveled teaching the gospel, they NEVER did accept donations for the “Ministry,” rather they coordinated an opportunity for those they taught to give directly to the poor and needy. This example speaks volumes to me as to the true principle of tithing as Jesus taught.

Please consider taking back your spiritual growth and understanding. Be responsible for your learning, and do not simply sit back and let the church teach you what you need to know.

The prophets of the Old Testament have written volumes about the last days which we are NOW IN. Your church leaders are speechless regarding these teachings. If this is not a red flag for you, might I suggest that you are possibly in danger? If God didn’t think that you needed to know what was coming, He wouldn’t have had these prophets record their prophecies in the first place.

I know for certain the danger that you will face if you continue to rely 100% on the teachings of your leaders, without asking God for confirmation, but will not share my “opinion” with you at this time. However, I also know that God is revealing all truth, which is why you are having doubts about your church. I invite you to continue listening to God, for He will see that you learn those things that are important for these last days.

      1. I hope you had a good trip. It’s fine with me if you repost the article. It’s from the Truth in Love ministry and I suppose they wouldn’t mind, since their purpose is to reach others with God’s truth and love.
