The Antichrist Cannot Be Revealed UNTIL One Event Happens First – Do You Know What That is?

There is a lot of chatter on social media stating that Elon Musk is creating the antichrist as a robot. Development as well as an introduction to his plan and progress suggests something remarkable is in the works. But is this robot the antichrist? Let’s consider biblical facts to answer this first before learning what is “holding back” the antichrist from being revealed.

According to Scripture, the Antichrist will be a human being, not a robot, AI, or machine.

Here’s the clearest biblical reasoning:

He is consistently called a man

• 2 Thessalonians 2:3 – “that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition.”
• Revelation 13:18 – “it is the number of a man.”

The Bible uses human terms—man, king, mouth speaking great things, blasphemer, deceiver—never anything mechanical or artificial.

He will possess a human personality

The Antichrist:

• speaks arrogantly (Dan. 7:8, 20),
• has desires (Dan. 11:37),
• makes political alliances (Rev. 17),
• persecutes believers (Rev. 13:7),
  —all traits of a human ruler.

AI or robots don’t fit these descriptions without stretching the text beyond its intent.

He will be empowered by Satan, not built by humans

Revelation shows the Dragon (Satan) giving the beast:

• power
• authority
• a throne

(Revelation 13:2)

This matches spiritual corruption of a human leader, not the activation of a machine.

The false prophet creates an image of the beast—not the beast himself

Revelation 13 describes the image of the beast that speaks.
That could very well hint at AI, holograms, or advanced tech used for worship and control.

But the beast (the Antichrist) is distinct from the image. The Antichrist is human; the image may involve technology.

Now that we have a clearer understanding of the antichrist being a “man,” what is keeping him from being introduced upon the world stage? Is satans team still making preparations? Are they not yet prepared?

The answer might surprise you. Remember who is in control over the events of the end times? It is GOD, Himself! We think that since satan is “god” of this earth, that somehow, he is in charge of the events of the end times…BUT…He is NOT! God has domain over satan, and the end times are orchestrated under His command.

Here is the Answer to the Question.

With God being in control, He will not allow the antichrist to be revealed until the restraining force that holds back evil is removed from the earth. Let’s take a look at that scripture:

The Bible teaches in 2 Thessalonians 2 that the Antichrist cannot appear until something powerful is first taken out of the way. Paul explains that “the man of sin” will not be revealed until the “falling away” happens and the restraining force that holds back evil is removed. In verse 6 Paul says, “ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.” This means there is a force actively holding back the Antichrist from being revealed. In verse 7 he explains further: “only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.” The old word “letteth” means “restrains.” So, Paul is saying that someone—the restrainer—is holding back the rise of the Antichrist, and the Antichrist cannot come until the restrainer is taken out of the way.

Most Bible teachers agree that this restrainer is the Holy Spirit’s restraining power working through the church. The Holy Spirit Himself is never removed from the world entirely, but His unique restraining ministry that operates through the body of Christ will end when the church is taken out at the rapture. Once that restraining influence is lifted, Paul says plainly in verse 8, “And then shall that Wicked be revealed.” The timing is clear: the restrainer is removed first, and then Antichrist is revealed. (Take a moment after you read this article and read all of 2 Thessalonians 2. It will give you some more insight and clarity of what Paul was teaching. I promise that you won’t be disappointed.)

Other passages support this pattern of God holding back evil until the appointed time. Daniel 8:23 says the Antichrist rises only “in the latter time… when the transgressors are come to the full,” showing that God restrains lawlessness until He permits it to reach its full expression. Daniel 11:36 says the Antichrist will prosper only “till the indignation be accomplished,” meaning God determines when restraint ends. Revelation 13:5–7 shows that the Antichrist is only able to act because “power was given unto him,” proving that this power is withheld until God allows it.

Taken together, these scriptures show a simple sequence: the Holy Spirit restrains evil through the church; the restrainer is taken out of the way; and only then can the Antichrist be revealed and begin his 42-month reign of terror. This is the clearest biblical indication that the Antichrist cannot rise until the Holy Spirit’s restraining influence is first removed.

This to me is additional evidence that the rapture will take place prior to the start of the 7-year Tribulation Period as well.

As we continue to study the end times, do you see how all of these pieces are coming together? A person can not just read one scripture and expect to know all of the details of the end times. But as we prayerfully study, individual scriptures support other facts of the end times, and a clearer picture develops.
