A growing spiritual movement is spreading across culture, churches, and online spaces. It often sounds loving, enlightened, and freeing. It avoids labels like religion and instead uses words like consciousness, awakening, and inner truth.
At its core, this movement teaches one central idea:
You do not need God—because you are divine.
The Bible warns repeatedly that false teachings would arise, especially in the last days, and that many would follow them.
“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”
— 2 Timothy 4:3–4 (KJV)
“Look Within”: A Teaching Scripture Rejects
Self-god spirituality teaches that truth is found by looking inward. Common phrases include:
- “Follow your inner voice”
- “The truth is within you”
- “You are your own authority”
- “God is inside everyone”
Yet Scripture teaches that the human heart is not a reliable source of truth.
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”
— Jeremiah 17:9 (KJV)
The Bible reveals that God is not an impersonal force or energy, but a personal, holy Creator, separate from His creation.
“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
— Genesis 1:1 (KJV)
“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
— John 4:24 (KJV)
We are created by God, not fragments of God.
The Denial of Sin
One of the most dangerous aspects of self-god theology is its denial of sin. Instead of calling sin what the Bible calls it, sin is redefined as ignorance, trauma, or low awareness.
But Scripture is unmistakably clear:
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
— Romans 3:23 (KJV)
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.”
— Romans 5:12 (KJV)
Sin is not a misunderstanding—it is rebellion against a holy God. And sin carries consequences.
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
— Romans 6:23 (KJV)
When sin is denied, repentance disappears. And without repentance, grace is no longer understood or valued.
Jesus Reduced to a Teacher, Not a Savior
Many modern spiritual movements speak kindly of Jesus, but only as a teacher or example. They deny His divinity, His atoning death, and His resurrection.
Scripture does not allow for this redefinition.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
— John 1:1 (KJV)
“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.”
— John 1:14 (KJV)
Jesus Himself declared:
“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
— John 14:6 (KJV)
If humans are already divine, then Jesus did not need to die. But the Bible teaches the exact opposite:
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
— Romans 5:8 (KJV)
Salvation Replaced with Self-Awakening
The gospel teaches salvation by grace through faith—not through self-discovery or personal enlightenment.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
— Ephesians 2:8–9 (KJV)
Self-god theology replaces salvation with concepts like:
- Awakening
- Alignment
- Manifestation
- Inner healing
But Scripture teaches that salvation comes only through Christ.
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
— Acts 4:12 (KJV)
Why This Teaching Appeals to So Many
This false gospel spreads because it removes accountability and flatters human pride.
“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
— Proverbs 14:12 (KJV)
It tells people:
- You don’t need to repent
- You don’t need a Savior
- You don’t need a Lord
But Scripture calls believers to humility and surrender.
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
— Proverbs 3:5 (KJV)
An Ancient Lie in Modern Language
The message of self-god spirituality is not new. It echoes the very first deception in the Bible.
“For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods.”
— Genesis 3:5 (KJV)
The enemy’s strategy has always been the same: replace dependence on God with confidence in self.
A Clear Biblical Warning
Scripture warns that false religion and deception will increase.
“Let no man deceive you by any means.”
— 2 Thessalonians 2:3 (KJV)
“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God.”
— 1 John 4:1 (KJV)
A gospel that denies sin, removes the cross, and elevates self is not the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Final Thought
The Bible does not tell us we are gods.
It tells us we are sinners in need of grace.
“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
— Luke 19:10 (KJV)
Salvation does not come from within.
It comes from Jesus Christ alone.
As a reminder… satan always “sneaks in” with cleaver ways to take authority and dependence away from Jesus Christ. You can see it clearly with this latest movement. A common theme with satan however is having us believe that we can do this ourselves, and do not need the Savior: Salvation needing Our Own Good Works is a perfect example.
There is a major “Men’s Group” which runs this earth, that teaches that a person can become their own christ. This is all the same deception wrapped up in different packaging. Identifying this all as deception helps us remain on track, and following the Gospel of Jesus Christ as he has written in the KJV Bible.
Not this time satan!!!
