Why So Many People Feel Deceived: A Growing Sense That the World Isn’t What It Seems – Where are You in Project “Eyes Wide Open?”

November 16, 2025 | End Times Watch | River Wilde

More and more people around the world are saying the same thing: “Everything feels different now. What I once believed isn’t adding up anymore.” From politics to religion, from social institutions to global events, many are sensing that something is deeply wrong—and they’re searching for answers.

Experts say this rising feeling of deception isn’t just emotional. It’s part of a much bigger picture.

A World Filled with Misinformation

Across social media, governments, and even religious institutions, conflicting messages are everywhere. People find it harder than ever to know whom to trust.

According to recent surveys, trust in major institutions is at historic lows. Many feel that leaders are withholding information, spinning stories, or serving hidden agendas instead of the public good. This has led to a growing belief that deception is no longer the exception—it’s becoming the norm.

A Spiritual Perspective: Many Believe Something Bigger Is Happening

Alongside these events, millions of believers are turning to the Bible for answers. They point to verses that describe a future time when the world would be flooded with lies and confusion.

According to Scripture, this global rise in deception was foretold:

  • Jesus warned that “false prophets” and “lying wonders” would appear.
  • The apostle Paul wrote that many would be “deceived and being deceived.”
  • The book of Revelation describes a powerful spiritual influence working to mislead entire nations.

Many Christians believe these warnings match our current moment more than any other time in history. What do you think?

Institutions Under Scrutiny

For decades, people trusted large organizations—governments, media networks, and even religious systems. But recent events have caused many to question whether these institutions always act in the public’s best interest.

Critics point out:

  • Financial motives
  • Political influence
  • Power structures
  • And traditions that have replaced original teachings

These concerns have caused many to feel that the truth is being overshadowed by control, profit, or fear.

But…WHY is This?

The Bible tells us plainly why deception is everywhere today: Satan is called “the god of this world.” In 2 Corinthians 4:4, Paul writes that “the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not.” This means the widespread confusion, moral decay, and spiritual blindness we see around us are not accidents—they are the result of a real spiritual enemy actively working to keep people from the truth of Jesus Christ.

Satan’s influence touches every part of society: media, politics, culture, entertainment, and even many religious institutions. His goal is simple—to distort truth, twist God’s Word, and keep people asleep.

Because Satan holds temporary authority in this fallen world, deception has become the normal atmosphere humanity breathes. Jesus called him “a liar, and the father of it” (John 8:44). Lies are his native language. So, it should not surprise us that many things we once assumed were trustworthy have now been exposed as false. The world system is designed to pull people away from God, to keep them distracted, divided, and spiritually numb. It is a battlefield disguised as normal life.

But Scripture also gives us hope. Even though Satan is called the “god of this world,” he is not the true God. His power is limited and temporary. Jesus Christ has already overcome him at the cross. Those who belong to Christ are not left helpless—we have the Holy Spirit, the Word of God, and the discernment that comes from walking in truth. As the end of the age draws closer, the veil of deception is being lifted for those who seek God with a sincere heart. I can so testify of this solid fact.

This is why believers must stay alert. The more deception increases, the more important it becomes to cling to Scripture, to pray for discernment, and to warn others lovingly. In a world ruled by lies, truth shines even brighter. And the truth is this: Jesus Christ is coming soon, and only those who follow Him—not the world’s system—will stand firm.

“People aren’t just losing trust. They’re searching for something realsomething that doesn’t change.” We can all find this in the teachings of Jesus Christ as written in the Bible.

What Comes Next?

For those of you who have discovered the deception that I write about, I applaud your being in tune with God. The initial emotion from these discoveries are disappointment and betrayal, but they can quickly be replaced with a sense of becoming aware to the truthfulness as God would have us see. You are keeping up with God’s battle plan. Your efforts in finding the truth have placed you in a position to fight through the deception, and cling to the teachings of Christ. You have come to know that it is in HIM, that we can always see through deception, and escape the enticing of the adversary.

Whether viewed through a spiritual lens or a societal one, one thing is clear: people are no longer accepting everything at face value. They are looking past headlines, questioning narratives, and searching for answers beyond traditional sources.

For many, this journey is leading them toward faith, scripture, and a deeper understanding of what is happening in the world—why things feel different, and what may come next.

As deception grows, so does the desire for truth. And for those who believe biblical prophecy, that desire is a sign of something even bigger on the horizon.

If you cannot see even one deception in your life, I would lovingly ask you to approach God in prayer, and have Him show you the deception that you are currently involved in.

WHY is Understanding Deception Important?

I have many friends who just do not want to be bothered with the realization that they are being deceived. Many people ignore the truth because genuine truth demands something of them—change, surrender, humility, or repentance—and that can feel these things are far too costly.

Deception, on the other hand, is comfortable. It allows people to stay exactly as they are, without confronting the sin, pride, or fear that truth exposes. Truth shines a light into places most would rather keep hidden, while deception offers an easy path, asking nothing but silent agreement. So, people cling to what feels safe, even if it’s false, because the truth requires courage, accountability, and a willingness to step out of comfort and into transformation.

In these final days, learning the truth is more important than ever, because truth is the only anchor strong enough to hAold us steady as the world enters the final seven years foretold in Scripture.

Deception will increase, confusion will multiply, and many will follow lies simply because they are easier, more comfortable, or demand nothing of them. But God’s truth cuts through the darkness. It prepares the heart, sharpens discernment, and keeps us aligned with Christ when the world is spinning toward chaos.

Truth is not just information — it is protection, direction, and preparation. As Jesus said, “Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” In a time when lies will cost people everything, truth will be the difference between fear and faith, between wandering and standing firm, between being swept away and being ready when Christ returns.

So again, for those who have “Eyes Wide Open,” thank God for His assistance in your spiritual progression. Then, let us all reach out in the spirit of LOVE to those who are COMFORTABLE in continuing to wear the blinders that may very well cost them their eternal salvation. IT WILL NOT BE COMFORTABLE, EVEN ONE DAY, DURING THE SEVEN YEAR TRIBULATION.

I invite ALL to obtain your ticket to be caught up in the rapture by becoming Born- Again, as detailed in the Bible.

Time is running out!!!

  1. Amen. It’s getting darker and darker by the day. Thankfully that means that we’re closer than ever to going Home.

Keep warning. It’s our mission. As watchmen we see the threat coming closer therefore our shouts from the wall should be louder.

    God Bless Brother !
