Are You Someone Who is Asleep or “Wide Awake” When It Comes to Religion and World Events? (KJV)

Throughout history there have always been two kinds of people in the world: those who seek truth, and those who prefer comfort, tradition, or distraction. As global events grow more chaotic and religious institutions are increasingly questioned, this divide has become clearer than ever.

Many people today sense that something is not right in the world. Others move through life almost untouched by the warnings, deception, or spiritual realities unfolding around them. The Bible, especially in the King James Version (KJV), explains exactly why this happens.

The difference is not intelligence, education, or social status.

The difference is the willingness to seek the truth.

The Bible Warned That Many Would Remain Spiritually Asleep

Scripture repeatedly teaches that most people will not recognize truth when it appears before them. This is not new—it has been the pattern throughout biblical history.

Jesus Himself explained this phenomenon:

“And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive.”
— Matthew 13:14 (KJV)

In other words, many people will hear truth but never truly understand it. They may see evidence of deception, corruption, or false doctrine, yet they cannot fully grasp what is happening.

The Apostle Paul described a similar spiritual blindness:

“In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not.”
— 2 Corinthians 4:4 (KJV)

According to the Bible, spiritual blindness is real. Satan works to cloud the minds of people so they cannot see the truth clearly.

The Key Difference: Seeking Truth vs. Avoiding It

The Bible teaches that truth is revealed to those who genuinely desire it.

Jesus said:

“Seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.”
— Matthew 7:7 (KJV)

This verse reveals a powerful spiritual principle: truth requires seeking.

Many people simply do not want to look deeper. Seeking truth often requires questioning traditions, institutions, and long-held beliefs. For many, that is uncomfortable.

It is easier to stay asleep.

Those who awaken to truth usually share one common trait—they are willing to ask hard questions and search the scriptures for themselves. Others are stuck in the rut of simply believing what is taught to them, thinking that it is always truth.

Comfort Often Keeps People Asleep

One reason many remain unaware of deception—whether in world events or religion—is because truth can be disruptive.

Jesus warned about this human tendency:

“And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.”
— John 3:19 (KJV)

People often reject truth not because it is unclear, but because it challenges their comfort or identity.

Accepting truth may mean admitting we were misled, questioning authority figures, or walking away from traditions we once trusted.

For many, that price feels too high.

God Reveals Truth to the Humble

Another biblical pattern is that God often reveals truth to those who approach Him with humility rather than pride.

Jesus said:

“I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.”
— Matthew 11:25 (KJV)

This does not mean educated people cannot find truth. Instead, it means truth is revealed to those who approach God with humility and a teachable heart.

Those who assume they already know everything often miss what God is trying to show them.

The End Times Will Increase This Divide

The Bible teaches that as the world approaches the return of Jesus Christ; deception will increase dramatically.

Jesus warned:

“Take heed that no man deceive you.”
— Matthew 24:4 (KJV)

Paul described the same danger:

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine.”
— 2 Timothy 4:3 (KJV)

As deception spreads, the gap between those who are spiritually awake and those who are asleep will widen.

Those seeking truth will begin to recognize patterns in world events, religious institutions, and prophecy. Others will dismiss these warnings and continue living as if nothing is happening.

God Always Leaves a Remnant

Although many remain unaware, the Bible assures us that God always preserves a group of people who seek Him sincerely.

Paul explained:

“Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.”
— Romans 11:5 (KJV)

Throughout history—from Noah’s day to the early church—God has always worked through a remnant: a smaller group willing to pursue truth even when the majority does not.

Those who seek truth today are part of this same pattern.

The Responsibility of Those Who Are Awake

Recognizing truth carries responsibility. Scripture teaches that those who understand what is happening should help warn and guide others.

The prophet Ezekiel described this responsibility:

When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning… his blood will I require at thine hand.”
— Ezekiel 3:18 (KJV)

This does not mean forcing beliefs on others, but it does mean speaking truth with courage and love.

Some will listen. Others will not. It is always easy to pick out the ones who will not listen, for they think that they already know it all, and are far from humble.

But the warning must still be given.

The Final Test: A Love for the Truth

Ultimately, the Bible says the defining difference between those who are deceived and those who are not is a love for the truth.

Paul wrote:

“Because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.”
— 2 Thessalonians 2:10 (KJV)

This verse is one of the clearest explanations in the entire Bible.

Those who are deceived are not lacking intelligence.

They are lacking a love for the truth.

Final Thoughts

The world today is filled with noise, distraction, and competing narratives. Yet the Bible makes one thing clear: truth is available to those who genuinely seek it.

Some people are awake because they have chosen to ask questions, search the scriptures, and seek God’s wisdom above human tradition.

Others remain asleep because they have chosen comfort over truth.

As Jesus promised:

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
— John 8:32 (KJV)

In the end, the question is not whether truth exists.

The question is who is willing to seek it. Are you seeking the truth, or are you still caught in the nets of deception?
