The Second Coming of Jesus Christ and Rapture is Soon? “That’s What My Parents Thought and it Never Happened”. – Here’s Something that they Didn’t Know – Part ONE (KJV)

March 9, 2026 | www.gospelofjesuschrist.blog | River Wilde

I am fully aware of the three scriptures in the Bible that declare, “No man knows the day nor the hour of His coming”. Interesting enough, these same scriptures do not say anything about the Year or Season of His return. Hmmm.

Those who consistently use those scriptures are convinced that there is no further need to study the season of the end times, simply because we don’t know the day nor the hour. But I have discovered something very interesting in my 2.5-year full-time study of the end times prophecies. It’s something that I am going to share with you today.  We CAN know of the year or season of His return. In fact, I’m convinced that God wants us to know this. Let’s go to the scriptures.

The parable of the fig tree is one of the clearest teachings Jesus gave about recognizing the season of His Second Coming. It appears in the Olivet Discourse when Jesus was explaining the signs of the end of the age.

Jesus taught this in Gospel of Matthew 24:32–33 (KJV):

“Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.”

He also repeats this teaching in Gospel of Mark 13:28–29 and Gospel of Luke 21:29–31.

What the Fig Tree Means

Jesus used a simple natural example. When a fig tree begins to grow leaves, people know that summer is approaching.

In the same way:

When believers see the prophetic signs Jesus described, they should recognize that His return is very close. Not the exact day or hour, but the season.

So, what do the end times writings teach us about the Season of Christ’s Return? How can we KNOW this season?

Let’s start with Israel Becoming a Nation Again

Many believers see prophetic significance in the rebirth of the nation of Israel in 1948.

For nearly 1,900 years, the Jewish people were scattered across the world after the destruction of Jerusalem in Siege of Jerusalem (70 AD). Yet Bible prophecy indicated that Israel would one day be regathered to their land.

Ezekiel 36:24 (KJV)

“For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.”

Isaiah 66:8 (KJV)

“Shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.”

When modern Israel was officially established in 1948, many Christians believed this could be the “fig tree putting forth leaves” spoken of by Jesus in Gospel of Matthew 24:32 — a signal that prophetic events were beginning to align. Now…Take a look at this:

Matthew 24:32–34 (KJV) Jesus said:

“Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
Verily I say unto you, this generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

Jesus repeats this same teaching in:

  • Gospel of Mark 13:28–30
  • Gospel of Luke 21:29–32

HERE’S the important clue to understanding the season that these scriptures teach:

The scripture above states that Jesus Christ will return no later than a generation from that time Israel was declared a nation… 1948. So now, we have to establish how long a generation is in years. What would you guess…80-90 years?

The generation, or life expectancy right now is 77–78 years, (average men and women).

For the sake of this article, I am going to use the number 85 years as a “generation” which is actually higher than today’s average. (As you will see in this illustration, it MUST be 85 or higher, for time already surpasses any lower number that can be used.)

Illustration – Let’s apply some numbers

Israel was established as a nation – 1948

Adding in the generation number of 85 years

Would make the return of Jesus Christ’s “Season” to be in the year 2033. (1948 + 85= 2033).

Now remember, the Tribulation Period of 7 years has not started yet, so we need to take into account this 7-year period.

We do this by subtracting 7 years from the year of the Savior’s return in 2033.

2033 – 7 years = 2026. This indicates that the 7-yearTribulation Period must begin in the year 2026.

Could a generation period mentioned in the scriptures be greater than 85 years? Yes, it could, even though 85 is already higher than the generation average of today at 77-78 years.

So, let’s not consider these numbers as FACT just yet, because there is the variable of a generation number. Just keep this information in mind, and let’s go review another “Time Stamp” of prophecy to see if that gives us further clarification.

The “Two Thousand Years” Prophecy

Another prophecy given to us regarding the Second Coming Season/Year is found in the books of Hosea and Peter. Let’s look…

Hosea 6:2 (KJV):

After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.”

And also:

2 Peter 3:8 (KJV)

One day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”

This Prophecy pattern suggests:

  • The Savior will return about 2,000 years (2 days) from His death and resurrection.
  • Followed by His return, His Millennial Reign will begin (the “third day”), final 1,000-year period.

Christ’s crucifixion occurred roughly around 30–33 AD. This is certainly a very significant “Time Stamp” to apply this prophecy to.

Check this out –

If Christ died and was resurrected in the year 33 AD, adding the 2000 years (2 days as noted in the scripture) would make the year of His return to be 2033.

This year fits exactly with the prophecy of the generation, which we just studied, of 85 years from 1948 = 2033.

Using these two prophecies together, it gives us the exact same year for the return of Jesus Christ, 2033.

And again, when we subtract the 7 years for the tribulation period, which MUST occur prior to the Savor’s Second Coming, we land directly in the year 2026…RIGHT NOW! The 7-year Tribulation Period will start in the year 2026.

We are in the Season of Christ returning in the year 2033, and the Season for the Tribulation period starting in the year 2026.

And what comes PRIOR to the 7-year Tribulation Period starting???? THE RAPTURE.

The rapture will occur this year, 2026. Christ will come for His church, and we will meet Him in the clouds any day now. We do not know the day nor the hour, but we know the year for both the rapture (2026) as well as the Second Coming of Jesus Christ (2033)

To discover how we know that the rapture starts at the beginning of the 7-year Tribulation Period, and not at a later year, please read Part Two.
