The Prophesied End‑Times Temple: Why It Cannot Be Built on the Temple Mount in Israel Without an Act of God

March 7, 2026 | www.gospelofjesuschrist.blog | River Wilde

For those of you who have been following end times prophecy, you are very aware that before Jesus Christ returns, there must be a new temple built by the Jewish people upon the temple mount, where King Solomons Temple once stood. But for those still learning about this prophecy, I would like to show you why this is so.

In 957 BC, Solomon’s Temple (First Temple) was built in Jerusalem. It served as a central place for Israel and housed the Ark of the Covenant. Animal sacrifices were performed within the temple, teaching the concept that a “Perfect Person” would soon come and give His life for the remission of our sins. It was destroyed in 586 BC by Nebuchadnezzar II during the Siege of Jerusalem.

The Second Temple was rebuilt upon that same location, beginning around 516 BC after the Jewish return from Babylonian exile under leaders like Zerubbabel. It was destroyed by the Romans in 70 AD during the Siege of Jerusalem. ALL Sacrifices were stopped at this time, and there have not been any further sacrifices since this date, for there is no longer a temple when these sacrifices can take place.

In 691–692 AD the Dome of the Rock was built by the Umayyad caliph Abd al-Malik on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, the same area where the Jewish temples once stood. (As shown in the illustration above). In Islamic belief, this rock is connected to the Prophet Muhammad and his Night Journey and ascension to heaven. It remains one of the oldest surviving Islamic structures in the world and sits within the compound known as Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound (Temple Mount).

Through the writings of the Old Testament, The Jewish people know that they need to build a new (3rd Solomon’s) Temple in this exact spot, so that they can once again begin offering sacrifices which will allow their Messiah to return.

  1. God choosing one place for His name (Deuteronomy 12).
  2. Solomon building the temple on Mount Moriah (2 Chronicles 3:1).
  3. Command to rebuild after exile (Haggai 1:8).
  4. Prophecies describing a future temple (Ezekiel 40–48, Isaiah 2:2).

There have been many years of “fighting” over this sacred temple mount spot. It has been the very center of contention and dismay. It is very sacred ground for the Jewish and Islamic people.

So, now we are all caught up regarding the importance of building this Jewish temple in the same spot where the Islamic Dome of the Rock stands.

So how will this temple be built amid such challenging circumstances? Let me simply answer that question by saying, God will allow it to be built. It will only be possible because of divine intervention.

How can I make such a statement? Let me share some scriptures with you that demonstrate that this temple will indeed be built. Proof that this temple will exist is proof that God will see that it happens, agreed?

Scriptures teach us that in the end times, the Antichrist will sit in the temple claiming to be God.

2 Thessalonians 2:3–4 (KJV)

“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed
So that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

We know because of end times prophecy that there will be an antichrist appear at the beginning of the 7-year Tribulation Period. He will enter the world stage as a leader that will bring PEACE to the region. He will be seen as a great blessing, and someone that the world has been waiting for to fix all of the “Broken Pieces” of this world.

So, for this prophecy to happen as described in the scripture above, a physical temple must exist. The antichrist needs a temple to sit in, proclaiming that he is god. This temple must be built, andGod will allow it, because it fulfills prophecy.

Let me further explain this scripture because it is very significant.

The Jewish people will build this temple in order for sacrifices to continue as prophesied.  Then, as the scripture indicates, half way through the Tribulation Period (3.5 years), this will happen:

Daniel 9:27

“And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.”

When looking at 2 Thessalonians 2:3–4 and Daniel 9:27 together we see that half way through the 7-year Tribulation Period, sacrifices will cease, and the antichrist will enter this new temple and reveal who he really is satan, proclaiming to be god.

This event is actually called the “Abomination of Desolation.” Let’s read about it:

Daniel 11:31

“And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.”

Daniel 12:11

“And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.”

Matthew 24:15

Jesus directly refers to Daniel’s prophecy.

“When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)”

Mark 13:14

“But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains.”

This temple that I write of today is a very important component of the end times. It MUST exist to fulfill other prophecies. Mankind has been trying to make it happen for 1,334 years without any success. And now, since it is such an important part of the end times prophecies, it will only be through divine intervention that God will allow this temple to be built.

Finally, I would like to share another piece of end times prophecy that relates to the temple being built. Let’s go back to a scripture above:

Daniel 9:27

And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.”

Daniel’s prophecy is that a powerful leader (often understood as the Antichrist) will make or confirm a peace agreement with many nations, including Israel.

In biblical prophecy, “one week” = seven years. This is the 7-year Tribulation period.

This peace agreement will likely include “language of permission” for this third temple to be built upon the temple mount.

I invite you to watch for this “Peace Agreement” to be signed, for we are about to witness this important event.

President Trump has formed the Board of Peace for this very purpose, establishing peace in Israel and surrounding countries.

The charter for the Board of Peace was announced at the World Economic Forum in Davos on January 22, 2026.

The first working meeting was held on February 19, 2026 in Washington, D.C., where representatives from multiple nations were invited to coordinate Gaza reconstruction and governance planning.

There is no future meeting scheduled, but many things are happening behind closed doors. Watch this Board of Peace closely, for it is my belief that you will eventually see this 7-year peace agreement, referred to in the Book of Daniel, signed through this organization.

I would like to share my belief with you, regarding how things will play out WITHIN THIS YEAR:

1 Rapture of the church – 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 (could happen any day now).

2 A 7-year covenant signed, which starts the 7-year Tribulation Period, and reveals the antichrist– Daniel 9:27

3 Third Temple construction begins/ sacrifices begin

This information is intended to bring you COMFORT, not fear. All of the scary things about the final 7 years on earth will be avoided for followers of Christ, for they will be raptured before any of it happens. If you are not a follower of Christ, and haven’t accepted Him into your life and repented for your sins, I invite you to do so, so that you can be included in God’s rescue plan – The Rapture.
