People Must Rely on God — Not Money in the End Times – Where Does YOUR Preparation Lie?

In the last days, the Bible warns that many will place their hope in wealth, commerce, and material security rather than in God. Revelation 18 depicts a world built on economic power and luxury, symbolized by Babylon the Great. Merchants and kings prosper through her trade, yet in one hour, all is destroyed. This sudden collapse demonstrates a profound spiritual truth: money and human systems cannot save anyone from God’s judgment…Not EVEN a CHURCH.

Jesus Himself warned in Matthew 6:19–21 (KJV) to lay up treasures in heaven rather than on earth, for earthly wealth is temporary and can vanish in a moment. In the end times, when global systems crumble, those people and organizations who relied on money will find their security gone. Their riches will be powerless to protect them from persecution, famine, or spiritual deception.

The hoarding of wealth can indicate a focus on power, influence, and self-preservation rather than faithfulness to God’s call to serve others. “God’s power” is never dependent upon monetary involvement. In fact, Scripture repeatedly highlights the tension between wealth and divine reliance:

Matthew 6:24 (KJV)
“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”

  • Jesus clearly teaches that wealth (mammon) competes with God for our loyalty. True dependence must be on Him, not money.

1 Timothy 6:9-10 (KJV)
“But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”

  • Pursuing riches can distract from God’s power and lead to spiritual ruin.

Proverbs 11:4 (KJV)
“Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.”

  • Wealth has no power to save; only righteousness and God’s favor can protect a person.

James 5:1-3 (KJV)
“Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten. Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.”

  • Hoarding wealth can actually work against God’s power in your life and bring judgment.

Psalm 52:7-9 (KJV)
“Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength, but trusted in the abundance of his riches… But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.”

  • God’s power sustains those who rely on Him, not on their riches.

Mark 10:23-25 (KJV)
“And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God. And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!”

  • Riches themselves can obstruct access to God’s kingdom, showing the tension between wealth and divine power.

Scripture warns that wealth must be used wisely to honor God and help people, not stored as a hedge against prophetic events. The same is true for a Religious Organization. True end-times preparation is spiritual, not financial—trusting God, obeying His word, and helping those in need, right now rather than later.

Philippians 4:19 (KJV) reminds believers that God will supply all needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. This trust is not passive; it is active faith—obeying God, storing up spiritual treasures, and demonstrating faith during trials.

The end times will include immense pressures to rely on material systems. Revelation 13:16–17 (KJV) describes a time when commerce will be controlled through a system that requires allegiance to the Antichrist, (taking the mark of the beast). In such a situation, placing one’s trust in wealth instead of God will be exposed as futile.

Ultimately, the end times reveal a stark contrast: the fleeting power of wealth versus the eternal faithfulness of God. People are forced to confront where their reliance truly lies. Those who place their hope in God alone will endure, while those who trust in money will face loss and despair.

Placing faith in Jesus Christ, developing spiritual endurance, and trusting Him is the only sure preparation for the trials of the end times. Giving to help the needy and supporting those in genuine need is a biblical way to live faithfully now, rather than hoarding resources or giving to a religious organization who chooses to do the same for security or fear of future events.

God’s power, guidance, and provision are eternal; money is not. In preparing for the last days, our focus must be on spiritual readiness, obedience, and helping others—not on earthly riches.
