Alone I Can’t – Together We Can… “Yoking Up to the Savior” In These End Times

Posted October 22, 2025 | End Times Watch | River Wilde

When my son was killed, my entire world fell apart. It felt like all of the wind had been removed from the sails that kept my boat moving forward. I was full of despair! I struggled to even function in life.

It was then that I came upon this scripture:

Matthew 11:28–30 (KJV)
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

These verses beautifully show the heart of Jesus — gentle, humble, and full of compassion. He doesn’t promise a life without work or trials, but He does promise rest for the soul and strength for the journey when we walk beside Him.

Strength for the Journey

In ancient farming, a yoke was more than a tool — it was a symbol of shared labor and unity. Farmers would often pair a young, untrained ox with an older, stronger, and wiser one under the same yoke. The experienced ox would carry most of the weight, set the pace, and guide the younger animal along straight paths. The younger ox learned simply by walking beside the stronger one — by moving where it moved, stopping when it stopped, and learning to trust the rhythm of the yoke.

Now, picture that through the eyes of Jesus’ teaching:

When He says,

“Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me…” (Matthew 11:29 KJV)

He’s describing a divine partnership — not one where He stands far off shouting directions, but one where He walks right beside you, sharing the weight of your burdens and teaching you the rhythm of His grace.

Here’s what makes His yoke so profound:

He bears the heavier side.
Just as the stronger ox takes the greater strain, Jesus carries the true weight — the weight of sin, sorrow, and struggle. He doesn’t remove all burdens from your life, but He ensures you’re never crushed by them.

He keeps you in step.
When you try to run ahead of God, life feels chaotic. When you lag behind, it feels stagnant. But when you’re yoked with Jesus, His Spirit gently keeps you walking in time with His will — steady, peaceful, purposeful.

He teaches by example.
Jesus said, “Learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart.” As you walk with Him, you begin to reflect His humility and gentleness. You learn that true strength is found in surrender, and true rest is found in trust.

He transforms the burden.
A life without Jesus feels like dragging an overloaded cart uphill. But when you are yoked with Him, even difficult work becomes meaningful. The same load that once crushed you becomes bearable, because now you pull it with divine strength.

So, when Jesus invites us to take His yoke, He’s not saying, “Here’s another rule to follow.” He’s saying, “Come walk with Me. Let’s pull this together.”

It’s not religion — it’s relationship.
It’s not just help — it’s partnership.
It’s not bondage — it’s freedom through unity with Him.

Now for all of you who are reading this, I think that I’m safe in assuming that the trials in your life have recently increased. Have you noticed that it seems to be one thing right after another? Finances, job, accidents, things breaking down, health, and so on…this is a period of time when things are hitting us…relentlessly!

Is there a reason for this? YES.. There is! Let’s learn why…

Because Satan Knows His Time is Short

“Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.”
— Revelation 12:12 (KJV)

As the end draws near, Satan becomes more aggressive in his attacks. He stirs up confusion, persecution, and deception because he knows his judgment is near. This explains the increase in our physical challenges, spiritual warfare, false teachings, and moral corruption.

Satan may not be able to “Tempt the Righteous,” so he is trying to “Wear us out.”

Daniel 7:25 (KJV):

And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

This verse describes the Antichrist (or the spirit of Antichrist already at work in the world), but it also reveals Satan’s ongoing strategy — to wear out God’s people spiritually, emotionally, and mentally in the last days.

Here are several ways the Bible shows Satan tries to wear out the saints:

Revelation 13:7 (KJV):

“And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them…”

Satan works through worldly systems, governments, and even social pressures to discourage believers and make them feel defeated. He knows if he can drain your strength, he can dull your spiritual effectiveness.

Through Distraction and Worldly Cares

Luke 21:34 (KJV):

“And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life…”

Satan fills our lives with endless distractions, busyness, and anxiety so that our focus drifts from Christ. Spiritual fatigue often comes from too many worldly burdens and too little time in God’s presence.

So, this is satan’s plan. Wouldn’t It Be Easier to Get Off satan’s Radar?

Sometimes it feels like following Jesus makes life harder. The enemy seems to attack more, temptations get stronger, and the battles don’t stop. It’s easy to wonder, “Wouldn’t it just be easier to stop following Christ and get off Satan’s radar?”

Satan wants us to give up. He knows he can’t take away our salvation, but he can try to make us tired, discouraged, and weak in our faith.

But quitting doesn’t bring peace — it only brings bondage.

Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey.”
Romans 6:16 (KJV)

If we stop following Jesus, we don’t become free from the battle — we just end up serving the wrong master. There’s no middle ground.

Jesus told us that we would have hard times, but He also promised victory.

In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33 (KJV)

When we stay close to Jesus, we are under His protection. Satan’s power is limited, but God’s power is eternal.

Even though the battle is real, the reward is worth it.

For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”
2 Corinthians 4:17 (KJV)

What we suffer now is small compared to the glory that’s waiting for us in eternity.

So yes, it may seem easier to give up, but true peace and victory only come from walking with Jesus.

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
James 4:7 (KJV)

When we resist the devil and stay faithful to Christ, the enemy must flee. We might be on Satan’s radar — but we’re also held safely in God’s hands.

Isaiah 40:31 (KJV):

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles…”

God promises renewed strength for those who remain faithful and rest in Him. When Satan tries to wear you out, the secret is to abide in Christ — your true source of power.

So then, the true answer lies not in giving up, but by yoking up to the Savior, which allows Him to assist us in our trials. “Alone I can’t, but TOGETHER we can!”

So, how do we do this?

Yoking up to Him means trusting His direction, obeying His word, and letting His strength carry what we cannot. It’s not about doing life alone, but about walking in step with Christ—learning from His gentleness, leaning on His power, and finding peace as we labor together for God’s purpose. We invite Him into our lives through prayer, and we keep Him there through faith in Him, and in His promise to pull through the burdens we face.

Time is coming to an end. The battle tactics have increased, and satan is trying to wear you out. Let us all find the renewed strength in Jesus Christ. Let us invite him into the battle that we face, and have faith that he will assist us as we yolk up to him.

REMEMBER this: It is not that our trials will decrease, it is that we will have the strength to fight through them. “Rest for the soul, and strength for the journey!”
